Hélène Gestern was born in 1971. She teaches linguistics at CNRS in Nancy and sits on the committee of a review dedicated to autobiographical writing. Her first novel, The People in the Photo, has won more than 30 literary awards to date. The book draws upon, among other things, her interests in photography, memory and cats.
