Emily Winter, MPH, SEP, E-RYT is a somatic practitioner, educator, and author of "Somatic Healing: Soothe Your Nervous System with Body-first Therapy". Her work bridges modern neuroscience and ancient body-based traditions, integrating public health and nature-based wisdom with Somatic Experiencing® (SE), expressive arts therapy, and yoga to translate the science of the nervous system into embodied practices for everyday life. She holds a Master of Public Health from Boston University and a biology degree from The George Washington University.

Over the past decade, Emily has taught hundreds of individuals and trained mental health, yoga, and social service professionals. She is the co-founder of Firefly Yoga International, a nonprofit that pioneered trauma-informed yoga programming in the United States, training teachers and clinicians and bringing somatic practices to survivors of violence, refugees, veterans, and youth. Earlier in her career, she worked in global health, addressing sexual violence and reproductive health in humanitarian contexts.

Emily now works with clients worldwide as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and a registered yoga teacher (E-RYT), and assists professional trainings for Somatic Experiencing International. Through workshops, her YouTube channel "Somatic Skills with Emily," and her book, she teaches people to befriend and regulate their nervous systems.

Emily spent much of her childhood outdoors — harvesting wild edibles, exploring fields and forests, sleeping under the stars. Those rhythms still run through everything she teaches.
