Nationally recognized and award-winning nutrition and health expert, Elisa Zied has shared her expertise and real-world approach to nutrition and a healthy lifestyle with consumers for more than two decades. A past registered dietitian nutritionist for 22 years and national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for six years, Elisa has garnered millions of media impressions as a featured nutrition expert on national television programs including Good Morning America, Today, and The Early Show and in print and online publications including People, Reader’s Digest, Parade, Redbook, Women’s Health, Women’s Day, Glamour, Shape, Ladies’ Home Journal, Fitness, All You, Self, Prevention, O, Men’s Fitness, USNews & World Report, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, USA Today, WebMD, and Forbes. Elisa is the founder and president of the New York City-based Zied Health Communications. A past member of the Advisory Board for Parents magazine, she has regularly contributed to a number of websites including Parents.com, Today.com, Shape.com, NBCNews.com, USNews.com, and Caloriecount.com. Elisa was a bi-monthly columnist for Success Magazine and has also written feature articles for Parents, Redbook, Seventeen, Woman’s Day, Weight Watchers, and Food and Nutrition. She currently blogs at Food, Fitness, & Fiction. Elisa is the author of Younger Next Week (Harlequin Non Fiction, January, 2014), the winner of a Best Books USA award and two National Health Information Awards of Merit. Previous books include Nutrition At Your Fingertips (Alpha, 2009), also the winner of a Best Books USA award and a National Health Information Award of Merit, and Feed Your Family Right! (Wiley, 2007), and So What Can I Eat?! (Wiley, 2006), both co-authored with Ruth Winter, MS. Elisa has been featured in several satellite media tours and videos as a national media spokesperson for several brands. She has been a keynote or featured speaker at several professional and consumer events and is a proud member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). She is also a past Chair of the Nominating Committee of the Women’s Health dietetic practice group. Elisa also served on the Advisory Board of Live Light Live Right, an obesity prevention program based in Brooklyn, New York. Elisa is also the recipient of the 2007 Media Excellence Award by the New York State Dietetic Association. Elisa earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of science in clinical nutrition from New York University. A past certified personal trainer from the American Council on Exercise for two decades, Elisa loves living an active lifestyle in New York City with her husband of 24 years and two sons, aged 19 and 15. She does her best to eat well (which includes a bit of milk chocolate daily), and to stay fit by running around with her boys, power walking (and participating in half marathons), hula hooping, and weight training. And she loves to tap dance, do Zumba, or do hip-hop when she gets the chance. Elisa is an avid fiction reader and is currently working on her first young adult novel. She recently graduated with an advanced certificate in children's literature from Stony Brook Southampton and cannot wait to pursue an MFA in writing for children and young adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts in July, 2018.
