About this listen

Narrated in duet by Bridget Bordeaux and Troy Duran

What if the Beast took the girl of his dreams AND the man who was desperate to claim her, and used them to act out his every fantasy...

The witch’s wrath has left me isolated, broken.
A Beast unable to even touch another living soul without ruining them.
My only solace comes from watching the one I’ve fallen in love with from afar. Fleur.
She’s beautiful, spirited, and everything I desire. I can’t give her what she needs, but there’s one in the village who can…
Gabriel is tall, strong, and handsome—all things I once was. As my days grow lonelier, I accept that I need them—both of them.
They’ll act out every dark, twisted fantasy my monstrous form prevents me from participating in.
And with any luck, they’ll grow to enjoy their new prison.
But the closer we become, the more the roses wither and die. The castle is changing. The curse exacts a greater toll each day.
Unless… Is it possible Fleur is meant for more than satiating my most carnal needs?
Could she be the one to break the spell?
Or is it too impossible for anyone to love a Beast?

Okay, I need a second, because once this book gets going… it REALLY gets going (if you catch my drift 😏)

What started as reminiscing my fave princess movie, suddenly became something that swept me off my feet and into this world where fairytales are X-Rated 🥵

This duet narration was an all star performance that enhanced every aspect of the story, the spice was steamier and the emotion brought it all life creating the full package that kept me on every kind of edge, needing more and needing it now.

By the end I had literal goosebumps, I’ve cried, I’ve swooned, the full works, but one thing I can’t get over is how this was such a next level performance that you can tell the characters apart by the different tones TD uses for this narration. Total-perfection.

Duet Narration ♥️

Interesting take, twisted and dark beauty and the beast theme story. Good chemistry! I enjoyed this darker version with a twist.

#TheWrathofRoses by #VioletTaylor is #1 of the #TalesSoWickedSeries and can be read as a standalone, with no cliffhanger!

This is my second foray into fairytale retellings and I really loved this one! If you looking for an imaginative, dark and very smexy retelling of Beauty and the Beast, look no further, but please pay attention to the TWs. I also loved the epilogue, which was perfect! I will definitely be looking out for more books by this author.

My only questions are (1) why did the castle keep shifting and (2) were the servants turning in zombies?

The #duetnarration was excellent by #TroyDuran as both Reynard (Beast) and Gabriel (Gaston) but Fleur should be pronounced fl-err and not flu-er. #BridgetBordeaux was a new narrator to me and I found her inhales after each sentence off-putting but got used to them after a while.

Thanks so much #DarkStarRomance for bringing this wonderful book to my attention and I can't wait to read more of the series.

Beauty & The Beast like never before!

This is the first book I have read by this author, and let me tell you, it will not be the last. This book has all the fairy tale elements you would expect from a beuty and the beast retelling, but it is oh so dark and oh so spicy.

The beast has been obsessed with Fleur ever since he first saw her in the village and so he decides to take her and Gabriel who is also very much infatuated with Fleur, prisoner and have them play out his dark and dirty fantasies as he watches.

This book is full of twists and turns. It has the sweet elements of falling in love and seeing past the beasts appearance, but it is also very dark. It was such a good book, and I loved every second of it.

The narrators were amazing. They brought Fleur, Raynard (the beast), and Gabriel to life perfectly, infusing all the emotions and feelings from the book into a phenomenal performance.

What an epically dark reimagining

This is an original take on the classic Beauty and the Best fairytale - although it was labelled a dark reimagining I wasn't quite sure what to expect and it didn't disappoint! Forced proximity, enemies to lovers and a curse with some dark themes on top made for an engaging listen. It does hit the usual Beauty and the Beast touchpoints but it doesn't unfold in the way you think it will. The only thing that stopped it being a five star for me was Fleur was so independent in her stance with Gabriel and his control but Renard won her over pretty quickly in comparison; I'd have enjoyed her pushing back a bit more. I'd also have liked more of the witch and the curse itself but I still enjoyed the book overall.

The duet narration is fantastic; Bridget Bordeaux is always emotive and I enjoyed her performance as Fleur, the confident heroine who knows her own mind and stands up for herself without stepping on others. I was on the fence on Gabriel and Renard; I genuinely didn't like either of them to start but Troy Duran's performance totally won me over. Duran had several roles to cover but there was no doubt which character was speaking and each performance was unique from the leads to the smaller servant roles.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Darker than I expected
