About this listen

A child of man, with hair like day meeting night, will guide the vampire back into the sunlight.

Lila Bran has been here before, she has been the mouse in the Vipers’ game. But this time, she’s stronger. This time, she has power, the safety of her brother, and—most importantly—she has Ambrose Draven. As she aims to prove herself against her enemies in the Viper Morada, will Lila find the depth of her powers and prove she is more than a murine? Or will she discover the beginnings of another great war between the four remaining vampire manors? As enemies threaten to overtake Malvania, Lila and Ambrose must choose their allies wisely. But what if they can’t even trust themselves?

The Sun Child follows on from The Crow Lord, be it a few months later, Ambrose is still thought to be dead and keeping this secret and Lila having discovered she has hidden powers, goes on her quest to avenge herself against her enemies in the Viper Morada for what they did to her, the humans and the vampires in the other manors.

Lila and Ambrose now have a connection and can talk through the concord while she is trying to bring the Viper Morada to there knees, Lila treatment at the brothers and Drucilla’s hands comes to an cruel and unbearable level making Ambrose step in and start a war.

The story twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat as Ambrose finds himself in a pit of self-loathing and lost to the monster he thought he was, he has fallen so hard for Lila that he struggles to believe he can live in the light after so much darkness.

Lila’s feelings for Ambrose are so strong that she is willing to do anything to be will him and make him believe they can be together.

I enjoyed how Rebekah’s character grew through this story and the star of the show yet again was Pollack.

The banter between Ambrose and Lila is funny, endearing and filthy, and that comes across so well by the narration of Ryan Stone and Raven Wilde who flawlessly make J.M. Failde’s world and characters come to life.

Enjoyable and very spicy read.

The Sun Child by J. M. Failde is the second book in the Vampires of Maldavia duology. Omg I loved this book soooooo much! As Lila and Ambrose's story continues, we dive deeper into the darkness, world-building, and plot. While the first book is an excruciatingly slow burn, this one is dripping with delicious, hot, and consuming love.
The FMC, Lila, her ARC and growth through this duet is an absolute work of art!
You don't only see her growth, but as well her healing the trauma and conquering her future.
The MMC, Ambrose, well just call for me and I'll crawl for you, my Lord. He has to be the most supportive MMC of all time. The way he supports, heals and builds Lila is so powerful, so addicting, it's an amazing power dynamic exchange.
Their love story in this book was for sure on a different level and with a very unique view, I love the emotional and physical rollercoaster it took and all the twists and turns.
Audiobook: performed in duet style by Raven Wildewood and Ryan Stone. They have executed this story to a T. It almost feels like a full cast with the variations of their voices playing different characters and accents, their versatility is absolutely amazing and memorable.
Blue Nose team has done a spectacular job editing and producing this book!
