"The Shifter" is another offering of paranormal erotica from the creative imagination of T.S.Lovecraft. Late one night Lisa, a bestselling author of romantic novels, encounters the shape-shifting Sarah, who comes to the rescue when a short cut through a park takes a terrifying turn. The pair immediately hit it off and, along with Lisa's best friend / friend with benefits, Becky, the three bond over a shared love of shopping and sexual pleasure, while all the while, forces from Sarah's past make their return.

T.S.Lovecraft has a great flair for out-of-this-world paranormal fiction with a sexy edge. Though a couple of points required a hefty suspension of disbelief (such as a bestselling author with a lavishly appointed apartment and an inexhaustible credit card to rival Christian Grey or Richard Gere in Pretty Woman being unable to afford a taxi) for my money, that is half the fun of a T.S.Lovecraft book. The reader/listener quickly gets drawn into the fantastical, slightly off-piste worlds that T.S creates, and swept up in the excitement of the storyline. Narrator Nikki Monroe's perfectly-pitched performance in the audiobook also serves to invite the listener into the story, and her pleasant, inviting delivery makes the listening experience very enjoyable.

I would have enjoyed some more fleshing out of Sarah's backstory, however it is possible that T.S is leaving the door open for future "Shifter" stories. And, were that to prove the case, my appetite has certainly been whetted by this sexy paranormal tale!
