About this listen
Sometimes the wrong side could be the right side.
My father never loved me.
I was never good enough for him because I was different.
My differences made me vulnerable to his cruelty, and a mistake I made brought a deeper level of hell into my life.
When my curiosity got the better of me one night, it ended with me being forced out of the world I’d learned to exist in before I was thrust into another.
This new world is darker and more dangerous.
It’s filled with lies, deceit, and pain.
I have rules I live by now because the wicked walk these halls.
1) Never underestimate the level of a monster’s depravity.
2) Never take anything at face value.
3) Fight, always, even if you’re doing it from the shadows.
4) Remember everything…Because they will, and they will use it against you.
If I have to play the twisted games at Chapel Crest, I will.
For now.
They just need to understand, the darkness comes for us all, and I’m the king of it.
Shadow is book 4.5 in The Boys of Chapel Crest and should be listened to after Sinful. Please check author’s note for warnings.

I did enjoy this story. It was a slower pace than the others in the series. I felt this was a process and healing book due to traumatic events in the previous, and I love that they aren't just forgotten about and you understand and go through the healing journey with the characters involved.
You also got more snippets of information from the dark plot that is bubbling to break free, I would have liked a little more build-up earlier in the book, but as Asylum says, we trust the process.
The audio top notch with all the narrators, it really makes it an enjoyable read, and there were even some brilliant one-liners that the narrators nailed and made me laugh.
"After all, I am he, he is me, and we are we"
Marvellous Audio

Shadow had a noose around my neck that didn't loosen until I finished.
So much is unpacked in this book but the character development of Church, Sin and Serena was monumental.
Now, let me be frank, I've never been a big Church fan, he's always been a bit much for me - you know, that MMC that's just completely irredeemable.. but this book changed my mind, I can truly see Church changing and that's purely because of Serena.
Serena truly is the light that shines on all of the boys. And that was made abundantly clear with Sin. She has such a huge heart and loves equally and appropriately for each member she has selected to love. Despite her selective Mutism, she is evolving into someone new - monsters aren't born, they're made and thats definately the case with Serena. She's not the girl she once was, but now, a woman with anger deep in her veins which her boys encourage her to harness.
My poor Sin 😢 so broken, so adamant he doesn't deserve love, is faced with the most difficult of situations which causes him to make the most dire decision yet. His self worth plummets even more than before - my heart broke for him.
With Serena recognising that she has feelings for another, the boys have to consider accepting another .. Serena chooses! And they support that fully.
More plot twists, More tension, More anxiety!
Without a doubt this series audios can only be described as being the absolute best. The cast are phenomenal together, each one encompassing their characters traits and emotions with precision. And as I've highlighted before the production team are outstanding at pulling the povs together seamlessly. With the addition of Anthony Palmini, this cast is 🤌🏼.
This series must be read in order, but with the revelations and plot twists in the last 2 books of Boys of Chapel Crest, I highly recommend exploring the full chaosverse as the character introductions makes more sense.
On the edge of my seat for Asylum - will it be the last book of Chapel Crest? I hope not 🥺 I'm not ready to leave.
As always please familiarise yourself with the content.
A firm favourite
