About this listen
LAYLA:
My life is a prison of protocols and paparazzi—an occupational hazard of being a princess of England.
When I publicly refuse the “perfectly suitable”–and painfully boring match my parents are pushing on me, I’m banished to our family’s remote Irish estate until I come to my senses…
Unfortunately for my pearl-clutching mother, I’m exposed to a whole different type of senses when I accidentally stumble upon Reveal, Ireland’s most exclusive “club”–and straight into the hands of its darkly devastating owner.
Our meet-cute is far from a fairytale.
But it allows me to live out my darkest fantasies.
When duty calls, will I have the strength to walk away?
Or the courage to defy a crown?
SEAN:
I’ve kept my secret life hidden for years—so well that even my brothers have no clue who I really am. And I intend to keep it that way… until one mistake with a masked princess threatens everything I’ve built in the shadows.
She knows my name.
She knows my family.
And now, she’s blackmailing me for access to my club.
I should despise her for it. But watching her surrender to me is a decadence I can’t resist.
She’s playing a dangerous game.
But I’m the one with everything to lose now she has the power to reveal me…

Audiobook review - Patrick Zeller and Alyssa Avery, wow! Seriously, the banter and heat just blew up my ears! 👏
Sean is an alpha, billionaire dom who thinks he's in control only to fall fast and to his knees for the Princess sub. Forbidden romance at its best.
Dare I call this a kinky, spicy fairytale?!
I highly recommend the audiobook.
Best of the series! Loved it

If you love tropes done well with lovable characters and spice that delivers while enhancing the story instead of replacing it then this one absolutely delivers. The chemistry is there and the tension builds naturally and the emotional beats land just as intended, which made it impossible for me to stop listening. Their relationship felt layered with vulnerability, strength and genuine care woven throughout, which made their connection feel authentic and satisfying. Sean has been hurt before and has created a wall that Layla slowly breaks down. Layla is trapped and wants to experience more of life when the opportunity presents itself.
The story was smooth and easy to follow, never feeling rushed or dragging. I flew through it without once feeling confused or pulled out of the story. The characters, Sean and Lyla, were genuinely enjoyable to spend time with and I found myself fully invested in their journey rather than just waiting for the next spicy moment.. but when those moments came I was all there for it.
The narrators really elevated the entire experience. Their performances brought so much personality and emotion to the characters.. it was incredibly immersive from the first chapter until the last.
Everything flowed beautifully. The pacing was easy to follow while listening and I never felt lost or tempted to rewind because of distractions or uneven narration. The chemistry shines through perfectly in audio. Alyssa Avery really put on an amazing regal sounding accent and gave Layla a strong and confident presence that fit her character perfectly. Patrick Zeller made it impossible not to fall for Sean, capturing both his emotional depth and his quieter, more vulnerable moments well. And yes.. the spicy scenes were very well performed, with subtle pauses, controlled breath work and just enough intensity to really sell the connection. Just listen… you’ll get it.
If you’re on the fence about reading vs listening, I highly recommend the audiobook. The narrators truly did the story justice, and I feel this will be a regular listen!
Speaking of spice, it is a romance book after all, it’s very good. It’s confident, well placed and never overshadows the plot. Everything feels intentional and added to understanding the characters places in the story as it progressed, which I really appreciated.
Overall, this was a fun, engaging listen that hit all my favorite tropes and reminded me why I love this genre so much. Highly recommend if your tastes align with mine…because this one understood the assignment.
So so good
