About this listen

This taboo love triangle is best enjoyed when going with an open mind.

"Believe. Sometimes, the unreal is more powerful than the real."

In my past, she was my wife until death did us part.

In my present, I don't believe in ghosts. But eyes that have haunted me before, now full of secrets, have me questioning fate.

In my future, I'll do whatever it takes to prove to her she's mine. Even if she belongs to another.

It's no news that I love Charlene Namdhari. Her books are works of art, dark and hot as hell, and this book was no exception.
From the moment I read it, I knew that my reading live wouldn't be the same again.
I loved reading it, but this audio just came to reinforce my love for it.
These voices are superb and brought this book to live.
It made me love them even more.

If you were a fan of book 1 don’t hesitate to carry on the series! Book 2 was full of wtf moments. With secrets and lies, and twists and turns in every chapter I didn’t guess a single thing right. Lol. Writing a review without spoilers is hard with this one so just go listen to it already. Charlene is a new to me author and I can’t wait to devour the rest of this series.
What a cast of narrators! Each were absolutely brilliant! Joe Arden had me sobbing by the end of the first chapter. That’s right, the FIRST chapter! He was absolutely perfect for the role of Trent! Ava Lucas performed this beautifully, and I could listen to her forever. JF Harding as Zayne made this trio of artists flawless. I couldn’t have picked better if I’d tried.

Now on to book 3!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better…

I loved this book for the first time I read it, but it was even better listening to it. The narrators were good and the right ones for the job.
This series is so good, and I can't wait to listen to the next one.

Brilliant

Talk about plot twist!!!! I’m still in shock. Sometimes I can guess where the author is going and what’s going to happen but there’s so many twists I was not expecting.
The story was well written but narrated it was amazing. Joe Arden as Trent, JF Harding as Zayne and Ava Lucas as Ashrika made this story great!

Although this is a standalone, there are spoilers for book one in this as some of the characters cross over. We met Trent in book one as a side character and find out a little of his backstory then. I liked Trent immediately from the start and his relationship with his kids just tugged on my heartstrings. Even though I knew his past going in, I got really emotional listening Joe Arden in the prologue and seeing this moment of Trent's life helped round out his character for me as he is a totally different male lead when being told from Ashrika's and Zayne's perspective.

Ava Lucas did a great job with Ashrika (and also the male parts in her chapters) and I completely believed in Ashrika's uncertainty to take that leap of faith while being in the dark which came across so well in the performance. This is definitely the take away for me from tkept me engaged and moments like Ashrika and both of the letters just hit harder when you can hear the emotion as well as the words. Likewise with J F Hardings narration of Zayne; I struggled to connect with him and his questionable moments (even if his heart was in the right place) but J F Harding's performance won me over.

However when the plot gets going after all the back and forth, it picks up! There is spice, secrets and so many twists and turns my head was spinning. It really is best to go in blind to this as half the fun is solving the mystery of how on earth all these puzzle pieces fit together and although the ending is a little rushed the payoff is worth it. With some teasers also added in for the third book I'm already invested in the next instalment!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely and I have added all the authors works to my TBR
