About this listen

Nico

My dreams haunt me. I feel as if I am falling into a pit of impending doom, but even that has not prepared me for the roller-coaster of emotions that flood over me when I'm near Phoenix. I have to keep my distance from her. I need to. It's the only thing I can do to keep from getting hurt again. Staying away from her proves to be a much harder task than I could have ever imagined. She's not only my assistant, but she's half my age. She gets under my skin and irritates the shit out of me, yet one smile, one laugh, and I'm melting into a puddle at her feet. Falling in love with her is a bad idea, a very bad idea, because she just may be the one person who breaks my heart for good this time.

Phoenix

Nico is my boss. He's demanding, bitter, brooding, and a downright bully at times. But, all that doesn't deter me from him at all. I can see the kindness and compassion in his eyes. I know the secret he's keeping from everyone and why he's so guarded with his heart. I don't care about his secret, nor do I care that he's twice my age. What matters is the undeniable attraction we feel for each other. If only he can just let go of the past and see what's right in front of him.

Author's note: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

I completely enjoyed listening this audio book, every little detail, every little movement described in the book greatly adds to the impact of reading this, making it hard to put the book down. When you read this plan on having the time, because you won't be able to put it down once you start.

Nico has lost his wife and has felt emotionally drained. He feels fate has cursed him to live a life as a solitary single person. This makes Nico not only extremely envious of others that have what he wants, but severely grumpy. As the boss he is having a difficult time delegating work or even trusting others to do even the simplest of tasks. His best friend hires him an assistant to help him to alleviate some stress. Enter Phoenix. A petite sassy, tell it like it is, take no prisoners in a verbal sparing match...that is half his age....and Nico wants her. The problem is, he has too much emotional baggage and yet he doesn't want anyone else to have her either.
Nico's blunt, demanding, bitter, and brooding, attitude pushes Phoenix away and she calls him on his behavior. Even though he acts like a bullly at times she can't get past her empathy for him.
Phoenix is definitely a better person than me for all the crap she puts up with and the number of chances she gives Nico.

Wouldn't have give Nico the same number of chances

Great storyline, brilliant choice of narrators. They capture the essence and personalities of the characters so well. I was crying with laughter listening to the “Fluffy” scene. Highly recommended.

Excellent narration.

Decadent Dreams what can I say but I loved this story.
Nicole Garcia, you picked two superb narrators in Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott, they nailed these characters. The try as she might assistant Phoenix, who no matter how hard she tried couldn’t please her hard headed boss Nico. Nico who kept trying to find fault with Phoenix and was constantly having to apologize for his own shortcomings, and then we have Nico’s growing attraction for Phoenix along with hers for him. Most of all I enjoyed Geo, he was the one who kept Nico in check, Phoenix sane, and was a laugh a minute with his wit and devil may care attitude.
Put them all together and Decadent Dream was decadent.
This was a fair and honest review for Audiobook Obsession.h

This book. That is all I have to say! To begin with, I really didn't know what to expect. Nicole Garcia always writes books that entertain me, so I went in and knew it was going to be fun. But to my surprise, it didn't only entertain me, but it included so many different feels and twists that I could not stop listening to it! To start with, forbidden love...Nico is Phoenix's boss, and if that isn't bad enough, he is significantly older than she is. I love this premise, you always end up routing for them. But that isn't all this book has to keep you enthralled! There is suspense, danger, murder, business deals, overcoming a past, sadness, dealing with dementia...I cannot tell you how good this book is. The character development, the attention to detail and the seamless intertwining of story plots is incredible. I don't want to get caught up in a summary of the book, but if you want to disappear into a book, this one is for you. Come and meet Nico and Phe, along with Gio, Josh, Derrick and Nico's family(love his dad and grandmother!) and you will no doubt fall in love like I did.

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross give a stellar performance in the narration of this book. This team can provide every emotion and feel necessary to pull you into the story, and make you feel like you are actually watching it in your mind.

So incredibly good!
