The plot was decent, the characters lovable, and the emotions, tension and passion could be felt bleeding off of every page. If you haven’t read this series yet, please go check it out, it’s the perfect mix of Mafia romance, humour, passion and hot as hell spice.

The story is spicy from page one and somehow manages to get spicier (I didn’t think that was physically possible, but here we are on the next notch up!). Ewen and Cora had me kicking my feet like an unhinged teenager…. and the tension?? Yes Please. Obsessed. The slow unraveling, the chemistry and the “oh no I’m blushing in public” moments — it all hit perfectly. The story line was great and as usual totally unique but followed on perfectly from the others in the series with all the favourites in there!
The audiobook narrators (Zoe Baxter & Preston Capes) were amazing.. A+ performance. (Like, I usually multitask while listening to audiobooks but this time they had my full attention. 10/10 acting, 12/10 steam). They nailed the tone, the emotions and the spicy steam. Definitely one of those audiobooks where you suddenly need to turn the volume down in public places if you’re worried about it. Both narrators are new to me but I will definitely be listening out for more by them!
If you want dark mafia vibes, kink, chaos, drama, and enough heat to melt your earbuds, this one absolutely delivers. And honestly… I’ll be thinking about certain scenes for a while. I’m officially in my Effie Campbell era and not even sorry about it. 😅🔥

Several scenes left me speechless, and I had to take moments to compose myself. The spice throughout the story was simply delicious, and I couldn’t get enough.
Zoe Baxter and Preston Capes did an amazing job with their narration. They perfectly captured the tension, emotion, and spicy scenes, making the audiobook a hot under the collar experience.
Cora is the innocent submissive FMC who has a darker side to her that she wants to explore. Ewan is the perfect combination of dominant, possessive, and romantic, which we all love in an MMC. To top it off, he’s Scottish and part of the Mafia. 😍
Dark Corruption was a great way to end the McGowan series.

Zoe Baxter and Preston Capes are just great as Cora and Ewan, so nice to hear the Scottish accent, made me feel right at home with all the little phrases they use that I would also say! Such a great audio!

When I say these Scottish men are unhinged, I'm not kidding. But the “touch her and ☠️ trope” has never hotter😏
Effie became instabuy author after finishing this series. If she writes it, i’ll read it! How i’ve loved all these books and the last one didn’t disappoint either.
I loved Cora, especially her character development. She really blossemd throughout this story and it was so beautiful to see how Ewen played a part in that.
Ewen however was unhinged, but in the best way. I mean, I don’t mind him getting rid of all the scum that walks the earth🙈 How he falls fast and hard for Cora was everything. Their chemistry was perfection❤️🔥
As always Alfie was a joy to have around, yet again. I’m gonna get to his book asap!
The audio was 10/10!! The narration of Zoe Baxter & Preston Capes we’re so good! The tension, the pinning, the 🌶️ scenes as well as the heartfelt moments, we’re perfection. I felt every emotion and then some🖤 They hit that perfection level when narrators make me feel like i’m listening to a movie. And they sure did with this one!
It’s bittersweet saying goodbye to this family/series, but what a wild ride it was🫶🏾
