About this listen

Gideon calls me his angel, but he’s the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to bear.

At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we’d worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we’d had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream…

I found the narrators trying to do the voice of the opposite sex very cringe worthy. The narrators didn’t sound comfortable which makes the reader uncomfortable too. Didn’t make it unlistenable though and I loved the story, great even though it’s book no. 4 in the series but still a fantastic read and no less substance than the first 3 books. I look forward to hearing more from Sylvia Day out-with the Crossfire series.

Narration had me cringing at points.

fell short of first three books, read like s storyline being milked, could have made one climaxing book to crown the series, this one was unnecessary. Narrative is good though less steamy

Would you consider the audio edition of Captivated by You to be better than the print version?

The audiobook option I chose as I cannot stop and read, plus I cannot skim and miss bits. I have listened and read the entire series and enjoy Ava's voice over my inner one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Captivated by You?

The first words. The fact they were Gideons. It has altered my perspective of the story, of Gideon and changed my feelings of Ava too. Maybe a mystery man should stay a mystery in female fiction?

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Ha ha ha, the sex swing.... Intrigued!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ava left. I was nearly in tears, felt physically wretched. I had to reach out to my husband for a bit of reassurance it was not my own emotions I was feeling.

Any additional comments?

As much as I love this book I feel its a stop gap filler. I get there are big moments but meeting your soul mate (book one) feeling the fire of passion and jealousy (book two) and stalker/murder intrigue (book three) left four as alot of tying loose ends. That's usually the final book. I feel a bit sad that all I can imagine next is wedding bits and I'm not a wedding bits gal.
I also feel a bit odd that I am on Gideons side alot. I am an old fashioned gal and would be exactly as Gideon imagines, vs the whole 21st century Ava attitude. Sometimes she seems to make him jump thro hoops! I love love love them both though and want to have the happy end I wish every couple. This story series makes me hold my husband tight and show him he's my world even after 15 years, and getting more special every day. Thanks Sylvia
