About this listen
I'm not supposed to feel this way…
I never wanted to disappear more than while around my family. Briar Lane, the girl only useful for one thing: my surname. A business handshake and pawn to be traded. My father's chess piece shuffled between empires.
That was my life back in L.A., but all it took was finding the dirty secret stuffed in a jacket pocket, and my entire world unraveled.
So, I fled to the one place I knew they could never find me: Crimson Ridge.
Arriving in this snowy, harsh world, I thought I'd be starting over on my own, but it turns out I couldn't have been more wrong. The abandoned mountain cabin I inherited isn't what it seems.
This mountain hides secrets. An ex-pro bull rider consumes this space, and now, my every thought with it... Stôrmand Lane. My father's adopted brother.
We should never have found ourselves isolated out here in the mountains together, each trying to outrun our pasts.
All it took was one misunderstanding, one line almost crossed, and everything changed.
A girl like me isn't supposed to know what those tattooed hands feel like, and I'm certainly not meant to feel butterflies anytime that pair of piercing blue eyes land on mine.
He might be my every fantasy, a cowboy I constantly dream about, but he's a temptation I have to ignore. A man I absolutely cannot find myself attracted to.
Even when he's looking at me with the kind of hunger that can only spell ruin for us both.
Long, dark nights spent in this tiny cabin can't be the excuse to step into forbidden territory.
Or can they?

You had my cheeks flaming, my jaw unhinging and my mouth drooling in all the best ways. From the pillow screaming yearning and tension, to the taboo family connection, I both laughed and cried. The sign of a perfect plot.
I felt this plot was paced perfectly, from Briar and Stormand's initial backstories which outlined the listening landscape to the uncovering of the secrets and lies that bound these central characters together.
I felt both Stormand Lane and Briar Lane had strong interesting character profiles which developed well throughout the audio and the spice was written to a spectacular level of intensity and detail, making the listener feel every touch and breathy moan. Just how I like it.

Narration:
In terms of narration, Elliott has chosen to keep this consistent from the first book by casting Amy Hall and Gabriel Spire again. Both actors are incredible to listen to though I may have casted slight different from the Male role to give a slight rougher/gruffer tone. There were zero errors in the script and it flowed perfectly. 5/5
I would definitely recommend this audiobook if you like spice, deep romance and the will they wont they vibes. I really enjoyed it.

only 1 dislike about this book, and thats how them meeting never gets apologised for. I didn't need grovelling, but just acknowledgment.
I did like the twist in this book. 3am and my jaw dropped open at one point and I shouted out "no fucking way". then realised the time. If a book can make me express out loud, then its a winner.
I know there are only 4 books in this series. But I really hope for more.
