About this listen

A steamy new monster romance from the bestselling author of Ice Planet Barbarians!

He is a hulking winged beast, complete with claws and fangs, and she is trapped alone with him in a dark tower. She should be terrified of him, so why does he turn her on?

Princess Candra must remain locked inside a tower for seven long years in order to protect her people from their goddess's wrath. Seven years without a friend—or a lover—by her side. And locked inside the tower with her? A fearsome winged Fellian warrior, Nemeth.

He's terrifying, cruel, and disturbingly magnetic . . . and the only other living being in the tower. Candra is torn between wanting to kill him for his supplies or having her way with him. After all, seven years is a long time to be alone.

Contains mature themes.

I’m in a book club full of Ruby Dixon smut fans. I’m still waiting for everyone to finish reading whatever they’re on.
The benefits of audio is that you can speed through a book in no time.
Read a few of Ruby’s books, mainly the Aspects series and duets.
Thought I’d give this a go as I love a good long listen. However, this started to drag a lot and I have more than 10 hrs left of listening time.
I have no motivation to keep listening, the pacing is glacial. Probably would be worth listening to but I just can’t face it. DNF
The narrator was good. Would’ve been even better if there was a male narrator too. And if the book was a bit more concentrated but still fully comprehensive with creative language, maybe the story would’ve kept me interested.

Initially drawn in…

I love Ruby Dixon but this book is incredibly long and if I wasn’t listening to it I would have DNFd for sure. I would have much preferred the audio book if it was a duet narration as Nemeth’s narration was not for me.

Sooooo long

RD is a one click author for me but I found this a bit slow. It could have been two or three hours shorter with no damage to the story. The time in the tower got very boring. I liked both Kendra and Nemeth though. I skipped a lot of chapters. Narration was great.

Not as good as usual
