Summary

Manuscript discovered May 2021, in Aldershot, United Kingdom, by local rambler Bryan Potter, who found it buried beneath a pile of bricks in the middle of the woods. Bryan Potter died one week later due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

The summer holidays are here and school's out, but boredom quickly sets in for the penniless kids of the Redsow housing estate. In an effort to escape some local bullies, best friends Ashley and Jude decide to brave Devil's Ditch, a place deep in the woods that everyone says is haunted. At first, everything seems fine, but then they discover an old farmhouse covered in weeds. There's a naked woman chained up inside. Her name is Rose, and there's something not quite right about her.

If you love dread-filled stories full of scares, then Witch is the book you've been waiting for.

Loved it

As usual author and narrator make a great team. Hard to turn it off. Well worth the read.

Gritty,creepy fantastic narration

The narrator brings this story to life;he does all the voices and I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed this story. It was unexpectedly funny at times because of the witty dialogue.

well written, well read

I enjoyed the character development and the reading. I was surprised at the gory bits, but they were also good

Excellent

Another triumph by Iain Rob Wright!

I really enjoyed this story, so much so that I listened to it in one sitting! It's very gripping, realistic and a well thought out supernatural thriller.

Didn't expect much when I started listening, but I was gripped and had to finish it to see what happened. Worth a listen for sure

great story

really exciting from start to finish. torn between wanting a sequel and thinking it's the perfect ending. loved the characters and the friendship and how the events unfolded and a good level of suspense, gore and horror. I would recommend.

A good quick listen

I loved this, I saw a previous comment about natation by Johnny Vegas and I’ve got to admit I did have a giggle when it started because it was all I could hear. However, the narration was good and the story was very good. I’m now off to find more books from the author

Excellent Narration

I often struggle with narration when listening to audiobooks, where the wrong person telling the story can frequently ruin what would have been an otherwise great story. Aubrey Parsons does a great job with this story, breathing life into the characters, and telling their tale with real energy. This is my first for both author and narrator, and I can confirm that I will actively seek out more from both.

As for the story, there is action, adventure, and horror in a perfect mix that made me sail through this in only a few sittings. It's shorter than most books I would read/listen to, however, and I feel that this shows most at the ending, which, in my opinion, is over too quickly - I would gladly have listened to more of this.

Overall, I would recommend this book, especially as it's currently in the Plus catalogue and won't cost you a credit.

A weird blend of horror and comedy that didn’t really work for me

Overall I liked the story and the ending, but I didn’t really enjoy the style. Very odd to have the characters making quips during what ought to have been tense scenes…it really distracted from the plot.

I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I’d have read it - I didn’t like the narrator, particularly when he was speaking the female parts - he was just annoying!
