Summary

Roland Ladley’s first Sam Green conspiracy thriller is as real and up-to-date as it gets. The lovable, but flawed Sam is a heroine of our time. A fallible but resolute female protagonist chasing, and being chased, across West Africa by forces of evil - what more could you want?

Ladley has penned a screenplay of the novel, which is being considered for production as a miniseries by a well-known British director.

---

Sam Green's life is in danger of imploding. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after horrific injuries and personal tragedy in Afghanistan, she escapes to the Isle of Mull hoping to convalesce. A chance find on the island's shores interrupts her rehabilitation and launches her on a journey to West Africa and on a collision course with forces and adversaries she cannot begin to comprehend.

Meanwhile in London, MI6/SIS is facing down a biological threat that could kill thousands and inflame an already smouldering religious war. Time is not on anyone's side, and Sam's determination to face her past and control her future, regardless of the risks, looks likely to end in disaster. Fate conspires to bring Sam into the center of an international conspiracy where she alone has the power to influence world-changing events. Blind to her newfound role, is her military training and complete disregard for her own safety enough to prevent the imminent devastation?

A Great Tale Excellently Narrated

I have travelled a lot in West Africa and understand the security world well so I was not sure if what I knew would spoil the story. But I was not disappointed. Stuck in bed with COVID I listened to the book over two days and found myself always wanting to get back to it if there was an interruption. West Africa felt real, the story pulled me along and kept me wanting to find out what happened next right until the end, and nothing jarred as being unbelievable. And importantly the narration was excellent, which for me, is really important with an audio book.

In sum, great book, excellently narrated, can't wait for the next in the series to come out on audible.

A carefully thought out read.

The start of what I suspect will be an excellent series of books.
A well read and clearly thought out story with lots of real world detail helping me to bring the book to life.
Looking forward to the next one!

Excellent from start to finish!

A totally believable and realistic heroine with a very difficult situation to sort out. I really enjoyed the breadth and detail - just right for listeners interested in this genre. Not too nerdy, but hitting at the levels to demonstrate the author knows exactly what they are about. The narrator does a cracking job at the story telling, with emphasis on individual persona and situation being spot on. I cannot wait for Sam Green's next adventure on audible!
