Summary

Poaching, politics, and killer motives....

A routine patrol leads to the discovery of an orphaned elephant and her butchered family on the border with Tanzania. An international poaching racket is responsible, and David makes it his mission to bring the perpetrators to justice. Kenya is in political and economic turmoil, with widespread violence and acts of atrocity being committed by the government against the Kikuyu.

Who is Commander Peter Abasi, aka Maliki, and what does he want with Professor Mutungi and the Committee of Human Rights? And where do freelance reporter Aaron Bernstein and Seymour Dewitt of the American Embassy fit in?

Amidst the turmoil, David meets Caitlyn, the new vet at the elephant orphanage. As the heat intensifies, will he be able to protect her?

Dawn

Loved the narration of Pat Devon, perfect for this thriller

This book will take you to the heart and dark soul of Kenya’s international poaching trade, its politics and good and bad of those in this trade. You will start to realise that Kenya is the poaching hub of the world, that goes to lanes to China and other regions in the Far East. The amazing and courageous men and women working for the Kenyan Wildlife Service, who protect these amazing and defenceless animals. A wonderful intelligent, action packed thriller.

Excellent audiobook!

Very well written and such a good audiobook. I really enjoyed it, even though it is so sad. It is unfortunate how much people exploit nature for their own good. Innocent and precious animals suffer in order for someone to make money. And even worse, opportunity is not available for people to make a fair living otherwise, vicious cycle. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and listen to others by this author.
