Summary

Hallo—I'm Mark Wood. As an England and Durham cricketer who was born, raised and refined in Ashington, Northumberland, my life has been quite unique.

Over the course of my career so far, I've won an Ashes and a World Cup in an international career that at the time of writing is going on seven years and counting. Being a fast bowler like myself is up there with the toughest of all sporting pursuits, like being Tyson Fury's punchbag or working behind the bar during the darts at Ally Pally. Being a cricketer? There's nothing like it. And doing it for England? Well, I'm lucky to call it a profession. There's been a lot of hard work along the way. Plenty of sacrifices and pain to accompany the good times that make them all worthwhile. I've been everywhere, from Barbados to Brisbane, Chester-le-Street to Chennai, waiting rooms to operating tables. I've played in some of the most exotic locations in the world and eaten margherita pizzas in every single one of them. To be honest, it's amazing I've waited this long to bring out my own self-help book.

Great book and well narrated

There’s something brilliant about the author reading their own books and Woody is no exception. A really enjoyable listen with a mixture of highs and lows as well as some fantastic stories from Wood and a number of his friends, team mates and family. Highly recommend.

Super Woody

Shame a lot of the stories have come to light over the last few months with the Ashes tests… however a good listen 👍🏽

Great listen

Listening to the audiobook really brought this to life. A great book that I would 100% recommend to anyone with an interest in cricket! Something that makes you proud to be northern.

Classic mark wood antics

Book is entertaining and fun (although rarely side-splittingly funny), brings across Mark Wood’s silliness along with some interesting stuff. Having wood narrate it is good- him laughing at some of the stuff he wrote makes it an even better listen, although if you’re solely used to professional actors reading audiobooks he may take a bit of time to get used to.

Nice one, Woody

Really enjoyable read/listen, and Wood is perfect to narrate (yes, I know it's HIS book, but..)

Absolutely brilliant!

I absolutely loved listening to this book. The fact that the author himself reads the book makes it 100 times better, I loved the little asides and the places where he chuckled at something he’s just read, it was like sitting and listening to tales from a very interesting and entertaining person. The right mix of cricket, life and humour as well. Really enjoyed this.
