When the first lockdown came, finding himself without cricket for the first time in his life, Geoffrey Boycott sat down and began to write a retrospective warts-and-all diary of each of his Test match appearances. Now 81 and still one of the most recognizable cricketers England has ever produced, Boycott has teamed up with award-winning author Jon Hotten in this catalogue of his tumultuous time with the national side.
Dropped for scoring a slow double hundred, making himself unavailable to play for England for several years, captain for eight seasons of a group of strong, stroppy and extremely talented players at Yorkshire, bringing up his hundredth hundred at Headingley against the Old Enemy, seeing David Gower and Ian Botham emerge as future greats, playing under Mike Brearley in the 1981 Ashes, in this enlightening book Boycott reveals a host of never-before-heard details regarding his peers and his playing days.

excellent, entertaining and quite dramatic, with the excellent narrator adding a sense of emotion that a self-recital couldn't ever achieve.

Larger than life
Sir Geoffrey Boycott is outstanding and passionate in this telling, his companion however lacks the excitement of Boycs love of Cricket. A great historical reminiscent of test cricket past.

A beautiful cover drive for four!
If you like Geoffrey Boycott this is a must. If you love cricket this is a must. 11 hours just fly by. Boycott gives us details of all 108 tests he appeared in. I love the way it goes through in chronological order from 1964 right through to 1982. What a journey. All those names of cricketing greats form Fred Trueman through to Ian Botham they are all here. Each test series is put into context by the co author Jon Hotten, who, to be frank, can be a bit annoying. But he does provide important background information so you can soon ignore the annoying aspect of his commentary. Geoffrey Boycott hits it out of the park for six. Absolutely wonderful. I gave the overall mark a 4 star because of Jon Hotten's commentary and the same for performance. But for the "story" 5 stars all the way. Buy it now!!!

The full background to Boycotts test career and more
Excellent listen. Especially the 70’s section, when I would sit in all day and watch test matches on TV. Boycott, Knott & Underwood were all heroes of mine then. Great to learn about his mentality on the game.

Amazing book such a passion and dedication to the game of cricket.
Wonderful memories of watching and listening to commentary on Boycott batting.

For lovers of test cricket
On it's own, it was interesting. Read by Sir Geoffrey made it compelling. Often his single mindedness gave the impression of being not a team player. Listen to this and not only does that impression go out of the window, but his dedication to being the best he could be shines through
