Summary
He’s your attacker.
He’s a murderer.
He’s your twin.
When DI Dani Stephens returns to work after an attack that almost ended her life, she’s quickly plunged into a horrific new case, as dead bodies are discovered on the streets of Birmingham.
But with no link between the victims, Dani has to get inside the killer’s mind - so turns to the murderer she knows best. Her own twin brother....
But what makes a psychopath? Can understanding her twin help her find a murderer who leaves no trace? As the circle closes on Dani, the clock is ticking and she needs a breakthrough - before she becomes the latest victim.
A heart-stopping crime thriller that fans of Peter James and Mark Billingham won’t be able to put down.

Crime thriller with a great twist
I always enjoyed Rob's action adventure stories and this is certainly a very enjoyable and gripping crime story with the added feature of having the main character still recovering and dealing with the serious injury sustained in the previous book, Dark Fragments. Recommended 👍

No need to be 14hrs
I had to speed up the narration, and despite that the story seemed slow - I think if it had been 11 hrs it would have had more of a 'pace'. Just felt too drawn out for me.

Essence of Evil
The worst book I have listened to for some time. Poorly written and the narrator was terrible.

very disappointing book
I love Rob's books but found that he created such an over the top character that needed so much by explanation that the story only got going at the very end. also most police stations have a morning and evening briefing but we lost the police and just had a madcap character. very disappointing

THOUGHT I'D READ THE WRONG REVIEW
I don't agree with the majority of the reviews for this book. I didn't find it 'gripping' at all, in fact I found it annoyingly slow and too much detail about Dani. Her interactions with Jason were very predictable and at times I said the next line out loud. There isn't really much story about the murders at all and in my opinion this story could have been over and done in a couple of hours. Won't be listening to another Rob Sinclair story in the near future.

Disappointing: simply jumps from event to event
Just about no psychological/character development. Occasionally exciting things happen because the author caused them to, but if you are looking for anything approaching literary depth and a genuine whodunit, look elsewhere.
