Summary

Fans of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo and The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin will love The Clutter Connection by organization expert Cassandra Aarssen.

An organization book for diverse habits

"You're not messy, you just organize differently." The Clutter Connection examines and explains the correlation between brain types and how they directly relate to organization and clutter. Cassandra Aarssen smashes the stereotype that some people are "naturally messy" and offers listeners insight and real-life solutions based on their unique personal organizing style. The Clutter Connection will help you get organized, be more productive, and finally understand the why behind your clutter.

Individualized real-life organizing

Organizing isn't one size fits all. Let go of the preconceived and conventional notions of what organization looks like and finally discover what Clutterbug you are. With self-awareness comes happiness, personal growth, and lasting change.

The Clutter Connection examines the four different organizing styles and how they relate to each other; how motivation and happiness can be directly affected by our space; the "3P's" - productivity, procrastination, and perfectionism - and how they are connected to your unique organizing style; and how you can finally become clutter-free simply by knowing yourself better.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Omg eureka moment

I started this yesterday and not even finished listening yet but I’m over the moon…
I’m a massive overthinker so already recognised certain aspects but this has totally connected the dots for me!
I’m a mixture between Bee and Butterfly. Anyone who knows me would think I am a Butterfly but the reason I don’t put things into the cupboards is actually that the cupboards are too messy. So I leave things out so I don’t have to figure the system to tidy the cupboards. I mean come on…that sounds totally ridiculous I know! But my brain does back-flips all day long trying to figure out the perfect system for everything. I am constantly picking things up and moving things around. Which means I achieve nothing and then totally beat myself up for getting nowhere. It’s mentally exhausting! I have tried to explain to my family but they just don’t get it. I have made the whole family read / listen so hopefully they will understand and we can now have a tidy house…and my brain can relax a little.
Fingers crossed that we can all learn to work together.

Thank you so much for understanding me and helping me to do the same 😁

Really helpful book

I have always struggled with mess since I was a child when my room was filled with my parent's things and I had no room for my own. This book helped me acknowledge the things that I tell myself which cause me to give up on organisation, and to critically evaluate the systems and methods that I have in place that don't work, the ones that do work, and why. Together with the author's youtube channel Clutterbug, I have accumulated a host of different ideas that I can use to help me master organising in a style that works for me. I'm excited to get started!

Excellent advice

Really helpful as it addresses the different types of organizing styles that people may have. By understanding this, tolerance, cooperation and practical advice is promoted. It is an asset for self knowledge and growth.
The writing style and performance is entertaining and easy to listen to.
One of the best books in this field.

The Clutter Connection

This book is refreshingly interesting. Once I took the test to see what type of clutter bug I was, I found the author was spot on with describing how I like to organise things. At times. I felt as though she was writing about me. The narration was great too. Overall, a great listen. Thanks for adding this to the Plus Catalogue!

Glad give it a try

Initially I was expecting author to be reading the book. So took bit of time getting used to different narrator. Glad stuck with it and found book helpful to organising and clutter clearing. I listen to it while sorting.

Knowing your own personality better with the book

Brilliant book, it talks about four different personalities that everyone can be identified and it is applied for organization. I feel I am bee personality. I believe it will help with my daily work too.

Excellent, refreshing and inspiring!!

I have read so many books on decluttering, but this one is really very different. It helped me to recognise my organisational style and finally a relief to know that my past failures to stay organised and constantly giving up were really because my "bug" style is not like everyone else in my family! This book shows its ok to be different and to be a "butterfly" but that it is still possible to be organised with a style which suits the way my brain works!! Love it ! An excellent book and made me realise that past failures to stay on top of clutter have been down to not being like the "bees" and "crickets" of the household but that it can work being a butterfly and not be wrong by simply adopting the macro style ..... a must read / listen to audio book !!

Two chapters in and already changed my home.

I gave up on ever being "normal" and tidy. I can't afford a live-in cleaner! Who knew people had organisation styles. Makes perfect sense once introduced to the idea. Then the solution is in the discovery of your style. Thank you author for making me feel less abnormal.

Good free listen

This was included in my subscription and I enjoyed it but I’m not sure I’d have paid for it. The four clutter types felt a bit forced and at the end I still wasn’t sure which I was. But I did glean some ideas to help me get my home more how I’d like it, and I did find myself tidying up while listening!

My only real criticism is there was very little acknowledgement that keeping things for reuse is a good environmental principle and not always about saving money.
