Summary

Revenge can take a lifetime....

When Sergeant Mike West and his partner, Garda Andrews, are called to a suspicious death, they are shocked to find the small body of a child abandoned in a suitcase.

Who is she? No child has been reported missing.

Their search reaches outside Ireland but without success, and soon another dead body takes their attention. There is a surfeit of suspects this time, but as the case evolves, the two detectives are stunned where it leads.

Meanwhile, someone is making trouble for Edel Johnson and she is forced, eventually, to ask West for help.

Can West sort personal problems, solve professional cases and restore peace to Foxrock?

A murder mystery with a touch of romance, set in the Dublin suburbs. It will appeal to fans of authors such as Peter James, L. J. Ross and Ruth Rendall.

Brilliant!

I love this series, and the narrator is especially good. Can't wait for the next one.

how the murders all connected at the end

I really enjoyed this book, I'm really enjoying how Edel and West's relationship is developing. I could tell early on who was trying to destroy Edel but I stayed entangled right up until the End. fair play to Edel she is one brave woman and definitely won't be anyone's victim anymore 👏

Good characters which we get to know from book to book AND not lots of names to remember!

The narrator can get into gloomy mode sometimes when it’s not really necessary ! Good clear definition of voices without resorting to broad regional accents.

Passed the time

Book 4 of the series and here we have hapless Edel continuing to mess with West's head, and generally being a nuisance. Personally, I would like to see more development of West's sidekick Andrews instead, but at least in this one we didn't have the bedroom scenes that we had to endure in earlier books in the series.

A cleverly woven crime story though with several layers that don't look like interacting at any stage, until the closing chapters. Nicely narrated by Stephen Daly.

Moving on to number 5 next.
