Summary

A storm is brewing in the heartlands of America and John Milton senses something in the air....

John Milton has a nose for trouble. He can smell it a mile away. And when he witnesses a suspicious altercation between a young man and two thugs in a car auction parking lot, he can’t resist getting involved. Milton came to Kansas City hoping to find a way out of danger. His recent vendetta against a cartel hitman who killed his friend has made him enemies in high places. Now he needs to find the only man who can get him out of this mess. But, like a moth to a flame, Milton is drawn to anyone who needs his help. And this time, he’s also drawing the attention of money laundering criminals who really mean business. Driven by a desire to atone for the darkness in his past, Milton is a man on a mission. But, in a city of undercover crime and corruption, what does that mean for his future? With danger all around him, will Milton’s burning conscience finally be the death of him?

"A literary sensation." (The Daily Telegraph)

*Thrilling*

**4.5 Stars**

John Milton (Aka John Smith) is in trouble after what went down in Columbia he is back under the gaze of the government group he has been trying to distance himself from, Group Fifteen, he was their Number One Assassin. The group was disbanded and now reformed and a mysterious woman is in charge. John crossed paths with them in Columbia and has made many enemies to add to a very long list.

This time he is in Kansas City (Aka Killa City as the locals call it) John tracks down Tanner an ex employee of the group, he wants to get a heads up about the group.

John in need of wheels goes to a car auction, he spots a young boy buying a van and spots men approaching him. This looks suspicious to John and he is right so he intervenes. The boy manages to drive away while Milton was dealing with the men. Milton finds it curious that the van cost $500 what is so special about the van?.

As Milton is on a mission to atone for the things he has done whilst with the group, he just cannot keep himself out of trouble. What does he do? He charges straight towards it. Soon in his quest to help he is up against the most notorious criminals and the Group have someone on his tail ……. Thrilling how resourceful Milton is….

Another Awesome Milton

Just love John, so basic in his desire to be a better man. I really enjoyed the interview with Mark and David, the men who brought Milton to life. Like many fans I am addicted to the series and so relieved there are quite a few to go. I hope one day Milton gets to rest a while! In the meantime we get to listen to his exploits bringing the baddies to justice in his own special way! Bring on Ronin!

Classic Milton

Fast paced storyline that combined various threats into one storyline. I really liked the in depth epilogue as often in books in general, little detail is given in an epilogue which ruins it.

The Q&A was interesting as well. David Thorpe sounds completely different from his narrating voice and was interesting to learn the work that goes into an Audible production.

Superb from start to finish

I listened to all of Marks John Milton books and have enjoyed everyone, as I've explained to Mark on his Facebook page I drive a lot and this gives me the perfect escape to listen and Marks books on Audible help eat into the miles. They are both well written and narrated so it's win win.

Roll on 2021 for the next adventure of John Milton 🤔🤔

What we all want to know

I rarely write reviews; but I've now binge listened to every single book from the start. I'd picked up a couple and then started following in series. it's been just over a year and I've solely listened to this series. I've been getting really nervous that it was coming to an end! however, what a treat it was to hear the interview at the end!!!! It was fantastic to hear writer and narrator talk to eachother and voice exactly what I've been thinking which is I'm always amazed at the authenticity of the stories and their granular details AND how each character literally comes to life through an accent SO well done that you have to remind yourself that it's ONE narrator. I'm flabbergasted to imagine a person that's so adept at coming in and out of characters; let alone the accents.. what a skill! and yes you're right Mark; it would be a hanging offence to change David! but also I'm sure I'm not the only listener that would consider a "Misery" style ambush if you stopped writing about John Milton 😂 Thank you for all the amazing adventures and keeping me sane over lockdown. I'm behind John all the way!

Brilliant

Can't wait for the next. Brilliant as always. John Milton story should be made into a film or Netflix series.....as long as the actor sounds just like David Thorpe!!

better because of the young characters

Although the author does continue the myths surrounding people with autism, he does so respectfully, and the introduction the young characters are refreshing.
