ITS WILLIAM YOU CANT GO WRONG

How times have changed and not for the better. These books and stories illustrate that so well. However history lesson aside the stories are simple, usually very funny, and from a byegone age of innocence and carefree life which I sorely miss. William and the Outlaws and their scrapes and amusing simple pastimes of Indians, spies, ducks and drakes stone throwing, treasure hunting and of course not forgetting jumble the dog and their family members who collectively together never fail to raise my spirits and cheer me up, just cant be beaten anytime. Easy gentle listening and thoroughly recommended.

Martin Jarvis’s supreme narration makes these elderly gems shine.

I liked these stories many years ago when I was a kid and they were already a bit creaky at the joints even at that time. They were (and still are) amusing and jolly good fun.

Then along comes Martin Jarvis with his wonderful narrations, firstly, as far as I was concerned, on Radio4 and then on Audible. Jarvis does nothing amazing or radically different, but what he does do he does amazingly well. He gets it right! He never misses the correct inflection, nothing gets the feeling of being rushed and, aah, that voice. Dripping with honey - just imagine him reading to you at night as a kid. Well now you can make up for the awful scarring that you suffered by him not being there by listening on Audible. Bliss!

The definitive William. The stories are of their time but Jarvis brings every character to life.
