Summary

The nail-biting final chapter in The Lewis Trilogy, from the Sunday Times best-selling author of Coffin Road.

The new start.

Fin Macleod, now head of security on a privately owned Lewis estate, is charged with investigating a spate of illegal game-hunting taking place on the island.

The old friend.

This mission reunites him with Whistler Macaskill - a local poacher, Fin's teenage intimate, and possessor of a long-buried secret.

The final chapter.

But when this reunion takes a violent, sinister turn and Fin puts together the fractured pieces of the past, he realises that revealing the truth could destroy the future.

Excellent finale to the trilogy

Peter Forbes is an excellent narrator. I was transported to the Isle of Lewis whilst listening.

A gripping story from start to finish

Have always been a whodunnit fan but never ventured into the gritty world of real crime fiction . After listening to the Chessmen plus The Blackhouse and Lewis Man, I am a convert...... and cannot wait to get my hands on another Peter May book. Absolutely brilliant story telling and wonderful narration by Peter Forbes.

Brilliant

I'm so gutted these books are finished. Absolutely brilliant, excellent start to finish. The twists and turns kept you on your toes. The narrator was also brilliant.

New author - great book

Well read, fabulous Scottish accents and an insight into life in the Scottish isles whilst an interesting and unexpected story emerges. Twists and turns but not one of those which us so complicated you lose interest. I was intending to listen whilst on a long car journey tomorrow but having started it a couple of days ago I so wanted to know what happened I have now finished the book! Language can be a bit rich in places but it reflects the language of the people involved. Worth a look, even if you, like me, had never heard if Peter May.
