Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. For four days they're free to live someone else's life. As the weekend moves into pulsating discos, high-stakes casinos, and beyond, Abbie is transported to the greatest pleasure and release she has ever known. In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police.
Something awful has happened - something impossible, unthinkable. Abbie, Winnie, Serena, and Bryah are arrested and accused of the foulest crime imaginable. And now the vacation of a lifetime becomes the fight of a lifetime - for survival.
Guilty Wives is the ultimate indulgence, the kind of non-stop joy-ride of excess, friendship, betrayal, and danger that only James Patterson can create.

"A genius mash-up (in today's parlance) of chick-lit and The Hangover: a Monte Carlo trip goes very wrong." (Mail on Sunday's Live magazine hot release)
"This brilliant story of loyalty, betrayal and excess is utterly thrilling - a sun-lounger must!" (5 stars, Closer)
"Must read" (Saturday Express magazine)
This is the first book i have had by James Patterson,I just thought the read up looked so good,it was spot on.This story is really scary to think what if this did happen to you just a mini break abroad with a group of friends turns into a total nightmare, the narrator is superb her french accent just so makes it,this is what i love about audio books you get all the sounds and accents to all the characters brilliant, you are hooked from the start.
This is 90% shawshank redemption and a 10% mystery, not what I expected, well narrated and not a bad read just a prison experience, with a hint of mystery not really enough. Therefore a disappointing patterson.
I really liked this book. Especially after my unsuccessful attempts to listen to two Patterson's book with religious/mystic plot. I liked the performance
even if it might not be appreciated by all because big parts are read (on purpose) with French accent. I actually live in France, the accent was well done,
so it made me laugh. But the fascination of the author(s) with France is what made the book too long. There are way too many details. While comparing
the French and the American courts of law was very interesting, all the geografical details could and should have been omitted.
The plot is developing for ages, but when developed, becomes interesting, with many turns and surprises.
The book is more suitable for women than for men. All these female friendships and all this criticism towards men...Very dead pan and could have been
omitted too. This part is Harlequin style...
Despite all this I definitely wanted to know what will be next, so I suffered through the lengthy parts to reach the end. And I give it 4 stars.
It took a while to get into this audio book. I quite liked the story in the end and found myself rooting for Abby but if not for a determination to complete a book I would have left this book for a while. The narrator is good, she's easy to listen too and her accents are very believable. Not my favourite James Patterson book but worth a listen.
I chose this book because I usually love James Patterson books, plus I think that January Lavoy always gives a fab performance.
However, I found this book very difficult to enjoy. The story is solid enough (although there appear to be a few things left unfinished at the end), as are the main characters; but there is a bit too much translating going on for my liking! I felt that it was overused and distracting.
This is my least favourite of the James Patterson books that I have read/listened to...but nothing bad enough to stop me reading/ listening to many more of his novels:)
it's such a shock how quickly ones life can go from dremy to desperate and brutal over night great work once again from James
I'm a freelance opera singer and teacher of singing. I love to read Thrillers, Chick lit General/contemporary & Children's books.
I picked up this book thinking I was going on a leisurely Fanta sea holiday to Monte Carlo and I was taken on the biggest rollercoaster ride I could ever imagine! The characters are beautifully portrayed by January Lavoy and the plot is thick with suspense. I will recommend this if you are seeking some escapism with some added thrills thrown in. However I will warn you that this book is not for the faint hearted. There will be moments you will be gripping your chair very hard and holding your breath. I could not put this down from the moment I started reading it.
Right from the beginning it draws you in and there is not one dull moment - you cannot stop until the end!
Worth every minute of your time and the money you pay !
Great narration, excellent story in short chapters that made it easy to listen to in "chunks". I like to listen for a few minutes before bed or in a break so was great for this.
"More entertaining than 50 Shades"
I have just finished 50 Shades of Grey and this book beats it hands down.
Definitely, I couldn't stop listening to it. I had it playing softly under my pillow at 4am.
A feeling of tension building.
Wouldn't go as far as that but it was an emotional roller coaster.
This is the first book I have reviewed because I think it deserves a good rating.
"Well Done! Excellent, exciting story!"
Definitely! Couldn't stop listening. Great story. Great mystery. The reader does the change of accents very well.
I liked how the reader changed into the first person whenever she was in the part of the main character. The story was fascinating and easy to follow.
The change of accents, American to French to British.
Absolutely! Unfortunately this was not possible but I loved every minute of it.
Great story! Great author! Great reader! Well done!
Fantastic! Don't know why it took me so long to get this book. I think this is one of James Patterson's best stand alone stories.
loved the book, the Reader, all just perfect. Thank you
I could not stop listening to this book, it grips you from the start and leaves you guessing right up to the end, which I never saw coming. The narration is fantastic.
"Not one of his better efforts I felt!"
I can usually tell now when I am going to really get immersed in an Audiobook. My attention seldom waivers and I become engrossed.
This did NOT happen for me with Guilty Wives. It may have had something to do with the fact that I viewed the four Wives as superficial & lacking substance.
The circumstances of their arrest and the plot generally did not generate the level of intrigue that I would have expected. I have enjoyed a number of Patterson's books but this wasn't one of them! The performance was okay but the South African accent portrayal was rather fragile.
"great storyline with a great end"
Even though the author gives you a hint of who committed the crime has an excellent storyline with a great ending. Good main character.
"Loved this book - Could Not stop Listening"
This book has great continuity, well constructed story and moves along at a cracking pace. I also really enjoyed the narrator's performance would listen to her again.
"Not a favourite"
No didn't get through the whole of this one
Not a fan of this story line - disappointed
Can't recommend this one
