Summary

I never had any memories of family in my old world. Growing up in an environment where no one truly loved me - and, in turn, being callous and distant to everyone - made me an unrivaled fighter, but a crappy person. When I came to this world, my new parents taught me something I'd never known. I may not be the strongest fighter or mage in this world, but I'm a hell of a lot better person now than I ever would've been in my previous life.

In order to protect his loved ones, the mage Arthur Leywin must reveal the truth of his identity. If he is to fulfill his role in the war between the godlike asuras and the demonic Vritra, he must leave those he hopes to protect and travel to the land of deities and dragons.

First, however, he must escape. Arthur stands before the kings and queens of Dicathen, accused of a crime he did not commit. It will take an act of the gods to save him from having his magic stripped away, leaving him powerless in the war to come. Fortunately for Arthur, he can count the gods among his friends.

Good, but has its issues

it was a decent installment, though there are a couple of niggling points.

1, considering how much Arthur is supposed to care about Tess he seems strangely indifferent about her and her well being. He sees his family before he leaves but doesn't bother even passing her a message before disappearing off for two years right after he just rescued her from her kidnappers.

2, the training section was pretty interesting but it seems the author got kind of bored and just skipped ahead until the end randomly, it just felt a bit odd.

I'll be looking forward to the next installment, though I wish Auther and Tess's relationship actually goes somewhere rather than this oddly one-sided mess it currently is.

Becoming quite a gripping tale

I’m enjoying the storyline of Arthur’s progression and the deeper structure of the characters. Looking forward to moving onto the next one now

Wow

Honestly, out of all of the audiobooks I’ve listened to before- TBATE series is the only one that has left me wanting more. I can’t wait for the next release 😭

Is this what perfection looks like??

This series is amazing. The story is perfect in many ways, and the narrators makes the story so much more memorable.
The most memorable scene/page was when Tessia saw Arthur for the first time in two years.

I loved it, but it is to freaking short.

The narration is superb, and there wasn't a second you weren't hooked on the story, the only complain is that book was too damn short.
