Summary

A hilarious tale of dogs, fogs, bogs and moving to Ireland. For many years, Nick and Lesley Albert had shared a dream of living far away from the stress of modern life, and when the opportunity arose, they jumped in with both feet. Almost overnight, they decided to move to beautiful County Clare, in the west of Ireland - a country they had never before visited.

With little experience or money they set about renovating a derelict farmhouse and building a new life together - hindered only by their lack of skill, 22 chickens, two ducks, and several unruly dogs. Bursting with comical anecdotes and witty observations, blended with occasional moments of exquisite sadness, this is a delightful true story of an English couple searching for a new life in the quiet solitude of rural Ireland. Marley and Me meets Around Ireland with a Fridge. If you love dogs, Ireland and life, then you will adore An Irish Tail.

A life I would wish for.

Again I loved listening to this book. I envy their lifestyle and applaud them for having the courage to step away from stress.

A book for animal and nature lovers

I started off loving this book but for me it grew more tedious as it went on. I think the choice of narrator was terrible, it needed someone who was more animated. At times it sounded as though he was reading a shopping list.

Comedic County Clare

Fast paced, fun but with a serious undertone, easy to listen to and descriptive about Ireland's culture

Took a punt and paid off

While browsing the many titles available I came across An Irish Tail and decided to a punt and I'm really pleased I did. I really enjoyed it - if you love dogs and Ireland this is the book for you. It's a very easy listen and admire this couple for changing their lives and enjoyed listening to their journey and wish them every success in their new lives.
