A story of love, war, loyalty and betrayal, Excalibur begins with the failure of Lancelot's rebellion and the ruin of Arthur's marriage to Guinevere. The Saxons, sensing the disunity of the Britons, seize the chance to destroy Arthur. The climax of the war comes with the legendary triumph at Mount Badon, and Arthur`s great victory. But the promises he made then come back to haunt him after the years of peace and glory.

Having read previous reviews I was put off from buying the book, but I was desperate to finish the trilogy as I've enjoyed it so much. So I contacted Audible, and following checks they informed me the issue of it being cut short had been resolved. Which I can now confirm having listed to the book.
Author of Wolf's Head, The Wolf & The Raven, Rise of the Wolf, Knight of the Cross and Friar Tuck & The Christmas Devil.
Near the top. The narration is excellent but the story isn't as good as the previous book in this series.
Everything is finally tied up in the series and, although lots of people die, there's always an element of humour that means things never get too maudlin or depressing.
He really sounds like he's enjoying the story and ACTING the part of storyteller rather than just some passive reader.
Don't think I cried (like I did with Enemy of God!) but I laughed a few times i'm sure.
Other reviewers have stated that this isn't the whole story, it cuts out before the end and leaves a big gap. Well, Audible must have sorted it because the whole thing is here now so please don't be put off if you want to hear this story!

Having the entire story read
Audible have missed out the last few chapters like they did with LOTR:Return of the King where they missed out the appendices.
I loved the book (and the previous two) but it ended in the middle of nowhere!
It's almost as though part of the recording is missing.
The first & second parts of the trilogy are split into three parts - this is only split in two.
Such a shame because it ruins a very good story
A good yarn well narrated but completely ruined by the premature ending. This recording is missing a big chunk from the end of the story, made even worse because this is the final book of a trilogy. It's like getting towards the end of one thousand page book only to find the last 30 pages have been ripped out.
I have contacted audible about this problem, as have others, but this title continues to be available in its truncated format. (14 hrs and 58 mins)
Although as excellent as the other books in the series, this recording has been cut short for some reason, denying us an ending to the story and ruining an otherwise wonderful listening experience across a gripping trilogy.
good exiting story I enjoyed very much. exiting. relaxing. a good story to pass each evening
I've read the Warlord Chronicles about 6 times in print and listened to them as many times. The pronunciation is a bit rubbish in this version, but Keeble does his best.
Laughed, cried, got angry and pretty much hit every other emotion. Bernard Cornwell has never surpassed this. In my opinion it is the best trilogy ever written.
"Perfect Voice Performance"
I really enjoyed this, the Warlord Chronicles Trilogy, but especially because of Jonathan Keeble's excellent performance. He was the perfect choice for narrator, does a wonderful job with the various characters and really brought the story to life for me.
The Chronicles are a richly detailed work, which takes some time to get into and can be slightly demanding as a reader. But Cornwell, read by Keeble, subtly weaved all the many strands together making a tale that hums in the memory and makes one wish for a time that probably never existed in this particular way.
I know I'll be listening to these again.
"A beautiful marriage"
Such a gripping imaginative and thoughtful take on the story and read so beautifully and intelligently. A transporting experience.
