Uta Frith, DBE, FBA, AcMedSci, FRS, Emeritus Professor of Cognitive Development, Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience University College London. Uta is known for her research on autism and dyslexia. She developed and tested theories to explain the characteristic behavioural features of these conditions. These theories have resulted in new strands of research on how abnormalities in brain development might affect cognitive mechanisms. Uta is a museum addict and continues to be fascinated by history of art and history of science. Her aim is to promote a research culture that values quality more than quantity. She is passionate about science communication and has presented several documentaries on TV. She recently completed a book with Chris Frith on “What makes us social” to be published in 2023. It is a pendant to a graphic novel on the same topic, produced together with Chris Frith, Alex Frith and Daniel Locke. Her autobiography is published in The History of Neuroscience in Autobiography, Volume 11: https://www.sfn.org/about/history-of-neuroscience/autobiographical-chapters
