Tom Graves is perhaps best-known as the author of the award-winning biography "Crossroads: The Life and Afterlife of Blues Legend Robert Johnson." This book has received praise from critics and fans alike and won the Keeping the Blues Alive Award in Literature, 2010. He also published an anthology of his best journalism work, "Louise Brooks, Frank Zappa, and Other Charmers & Dreamers." This book also received several laudatory reviews from critics and is notable for Graves being the last journalist ever admitted into the apartment of the reclusive silent film cult star Louise Brooks and for his discovery of the first Elvis impersonator. In 1998 Graves published his first book, the grit-lit novel "Pullers" which won praise from critics as well as other authors such as Harry Crews, Charles Gaines, Ben Hamper, and Robert Campbell. Tom Graves is also known as the co-owner of the highly successful indie publishing company The Devault-Graves Agency. Devault-Graves was responsible for "Three Early Stories," the first J.D. Salinger book to be published in 50 years. Graves was the Consulting Producer for the film "Best of Enemies" about the Buckley-Vidal debates of 1968 and Devault-Graves published a book of the transcripts of the debates, "Buckley vs. Vidal."
