Grant Raymond Hyde was born and raised in the beachside suburb of Maroubra in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. A Bookmakers son, he attended Waverley Catholic Boy’s College until his matriculation in 1986. It was inevitable that his first job was as a clerk for his father until he was graded with the NRL’s Eastern Suburbs Roosters (Sydney Roosters) in 1989 as a defensive second-row/hooker. His professional Rugby League career ended in 1992 with the death of his father and a serious career beckoned. Over the following years Grant worked as a Taxi Driver, Hotel Manager, Gym Instructor, Building Project Manager & Real Estate Agent. Throughout these years he maintained his strong affection for Rugby League as a Captain/Coach to various ‘A’ grade teams in the South-Sydney Competition where he came into contact with many Polynesian team mates. It was in 1999 that he discovered his fascination for the Pacific Islands when he project managed the renovation of a Hotel in The Kingdom of Tonga. Bred from a long line of Australian story tellers, it was his interest in human history and his love of the Polynesian people that brought him to complete his first Novel “Lords of the Pacific” in 2008. The manuscript for my third novel, ‘Daniel’s Destiny’ is close to completion with lots of editing to come. Grant currently owes and operates www.kadootours.com.au, an indigenous tour company operating in Kamay Botany Bay National Park at La Perouse with business partner, Tim Ella. Grant is also a Personal trainer. a part time Qantas ASO and budding novelist. He has two published novels to date ‘Lords of the Pacific’ 2009 with his second, ‘Islands of Gold’ released in 2011. He still lives in the Eastern Suburbs with his lovely wife Melissa, daughter Charlotte and son William.
