Evan Pickering is a writer, former professional poker player, and self-professed basketball junkie from New York. He spends his free time eating too much cheese, reading books, playing basketball and video games. Oh, and he writes stuff. Now I'm going to stop talking in third person like I'm not me. I've always been obsessed with stories, ever since I was a kid. Our lives are stories. Stories are the legacy of our ancestors. They are what we leave behind when we're dead. Stories are what make us human, stories are how we grow, and are what make humans great. I'm just trying to make the most out of my own personal story before I die. Writing is a part of that for me. Every writer has to answer the question sooner or later, "why do you write?" For me, the answer is pretty simple. Because ever since I first put pen to paper I loved it. Because my brain never stops craving stories and making your own feels like cheating in the best way. Also because I hope that maybe other people enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it, and because reading makes us better, more empathetic people; so I tell myself that on some small level maybe the things I write can do some small bit to make the world a bit better. After all, we all want to feel like we're giving something back, right?
