Casey Rae is an author, professor, musician, and media policy wonk based in Vancouver, Washington. He has authored and taught courses at Georgetown University and Berklee College of Music on copyright, digital disruption, public policy and the entertainment industries. Casey regularly speaks on issues such as emerging business models, creators' rights, technology policy and intellectual property at worldwide conferences, universities, and in the media. He has testified before the United States Congress on copyright matters and has written hundreds of articles on the impact of technology on the creative community in scholarly journals and other publications. His book William S. Burroughs & the Cult of Rock 'n' Roll, an exploration of the Beat writer's impact on music culture, has been translated into seven languages across eight editions. His upcoming book, Dead Dharma: The Grateful Dead and the American Pursuit of Enlightenment is published by Oxford University Press in 2025.
