Summary

Recommended
Really enjoyable! This is a story that is an absolute gem. No previous experience of the legal profession is required. Looking forward very much to listening to the next book

good story
this story is written in a diary format and starts in October through to September .Not only does it go in date month and year it also goes in day numbers and week numbers.
The author of the diary calls himself baby barista and likewise other characters are given similar names such as the boss, old ruin and judge jewellery. I was surprised that it wasn't a daunting task to keep up with who is who as a list of all characters was given at the beginning of the story.
Well written characters and plot as baby barista uses fair means and fowl to try to come out on top and get the tenancy.
I don't as a rule buy books written and narrated by the author but I have to admit that Tim Kevan did a good job in performing this book.

Highly recommended
This is an extremely funny and very well written fictional account of the rites of passage of a pupil barrister as he tries to get a place in chambers – by fair means or foul (mainly foul).
The audiobook narrator is terrific at reading a text which captures BabyBarista’s combination of general likeableness and occasional nastiness. However, for all his faults he is never a hero for which you lose sympathy, subject as he is to events beyond his control in almost all areas of his life.
Many of the characters will ring a bell for fans of North Square or Silk, but that’s no bad thing. The only slight criticism I might have is that the method of disposal of one of his rivals seemed a bit unlikely, although given the strange nature of life and barristers it’s probably the one based on a real event.
