Summary

The gripping new Audible Original from queen of suspense K. L. Slater.

When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers.

My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well.

So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia.

But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

There’s something hidden in the pages of this book, I’m sure of it. Some clue to Philippa’s disappearance. And I don’t feel safe. I’m being watched. My room has been searched. Saskia has been calling me in tears. If I don’t find answers fast I’ll lose more than my second chance.

I’ll lose my daughter.

A breath-taking new thriller from the number one author of The Marriage and The Widow. If you like Gone Girl, The Girl on The Train and The Wife Between Us then you will love The Narrator.

Another Triumph

How refreshing to listened to an author who says it like it is. Brilliant

Poor narration by one of the narrators

Ok story for a free book. The narrator who read Eve again, as in other books, reads as if racing. I adjusted speed to 0.95 to make her reading sound more ‘natural’. Unfortunately the other narrator read at a normal rate so that speed was slow for her. If Clare Corbett is reading this please slow it down - you always sound like you’re in a huge hurry in all the books I’ve heard you narrate … and I listen to several audio books a month so I do have experience of what works well.

Ironically the wrong narrator

I really enjoy KL Slaters books but I struggled to get to the end of this audiobook. Neither of the narrators got their performance right. Poor choice for both in my opinion. I would have enjoyed it much more if I’d read it.

Another enjoyable listen

I enjoyed this one but perhaps not as much as others by the same author. The scenario wasn’t very believable, although they did make a good fist of tying it all up at the end.

Northwest listener

This book did not inspire me, found some elements to be nonsensical and others just silly, finished it but was inclined on a couple of occasions to stop listening

Worth a listen if its still free

Not too bad at all and better than most the free books on audible. Good story, ok narrator, worth a listen.

Another gripping story, very cleverly written.

This is fantastic story with a fabulous story and twists. I saw some comments about the narrator’s (ironically). I found them to be great story tellers with excellent character differentiation. Highly recommended
