James Wolff grew up in the Middle East and now lives in London. After working as a British intelligence officer for over ten years, he left government service to devote his time to writing. His first novel, Beside the Syrian Sea (2018), was a Times Thriller of the Month and an Evening Standard Book of the Year. Upon publication of Wolff's second novel, How to Betray Your Country (2021), the Spectator described him as 'a major talent'. His third novel, The Man in the Corduroy Suit, is published in May 2023.
