Özet

Random House presents the audiobook edition of With a Kiss and a Prayer by Ellie Dean, read by Julie Maisey.

Cliffehaven, May 1944

The tension is rising for Peggy Reilly and the inhabitants of Cliffehaven as the planes continue to roar above the town and there is still no news of the long-awaited Allied invasion into France. There seems to be no end in sight of this war which has scattered her family and brought conflict right to the door of Beach View Boarding House, but Peggy cannot work miracles and the toll of the war is beginning to weigh on her slender shoulders.

Meanwhile, Ron Reilly has landed himself in hot water with his sweetheart, Rosie – and this time, his Irish charm will not be enough to get him out of trouble.

The war has forever changed the lives of Peggy’s loved ones, but with the promise of an Allied invasion comes the hope that her beloved husband and family will at last be coming home. It will take an enormous amount of spirit to keep that hope alive and bring harmony back to Beach View.

FIND LOVE. FIND HOPE. FIND CLIFFEHAVEN.

With a Kiss and a Prayer is set almost exclusively in Cliffehaven in the heart of Ellie Dean's world: the Beach View Boarding House.

this series gives a true history of the war around fictional stories which were true of so many in the war. Both my parents spend all years of the war in London and told me many incidents and how the guts of the people of all walks of life got through it and were there in the main to welcome our fighting men back. then moving back to civilian life.

the real trails and loves of war

Would you listen to With a Kiss and a Prayer again? Why?

I have listened to this book twice and will listen to it again. The story drags you in and you feel like you are there with the people in the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favourite characters as usual are Peggy and Ron. Without those two there would be no story.

Have you listened to any of Julie Maisey’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Julie is ok reading the story but in truthfulness I would prefer Annie Aldington to read all my books I find she has more feeling in any story she reads

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The best part of the book is when Dolly gets Ron's letter back I found myself hoping she was going to give Rubys mum a good pasting

Any additional comments?

I have all Ellie Dean books and love them all beach view seems so real when your listening to them.

Brilliant book
