Two lives. Two souls. One miracle.

Max Trader is a luthier, a maker of guitars. Johnny Devlin is chronically unemployed. Max is solitary, quiet, responsible. Johnny is a lady-killer, a drunk, a charming loser.

When they inexplicably wake up in each other’s bodies, Johnny gleefully moves into Max’s comfortable and stable existence, leaving Max to pick up the pieces of a life he had no part in breaking.

Penniless, friendless, homeless, Max begins a journey that will take him beyond the streets of the city to an otherworld of dreams and spirits, where he must confront both the unscrupulous Johnny Devlin and his own deepest fears.

“A master of urban fantasy returns with one of his finest works…De Lint builds his story from a succession of well-chosen and well-expressed details…Wholly engaging.”

(Publishers Weekly)

“Outstanding…It is hard to imagine urban fantasy done with greater skill, even by de Lint himself.”

I first read this over twenty years ago and have re-read it several times since. Then happily I discovered it on Audible, read by the excellent Kate Reading.
if you like Magical Realism / Urban Fantasy then 'Trader' (or any Charles de Lint) won't disappoint. 5/5

classic Charles de Lint!

Having listened to a few Charles De Lint now, this is one of my favourites. Some of his other tales have been so slow to get going, or a bit too convoluted. This one hits just right. Dream world combined with real life is woven together through different characters tales that you feel invested in. Definitely give it a go...even better if you get it as a freebie. I would have paid for this one!

Great book which brings together all of the authors ideas into a well placed story
