Kendra Elliot
A Wall Street Journal bestseller.
A dead conspiracy theorist. A mass murderer. Two cases collide for Callahan and McLane in a pulse-pounding thriller by Wall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author Kendra Elliot.
A man is savagely murdered outside Portland, and Detective Mason Callahan finds blood-spatter evidence that tells a troubling story. Files reveal the murder victim, Reuben Braswell, was a radical conspiracist. In his home, investigators find pages of diatribes against law enforcement as well as ties to Mason’s fiancée, FBI special agent Ava McLane. The victim was her informant - and had strong reasons to be paranoid.
To Ava, Braswell’s rants were those of a wearying and harmless man…until they collide with her investigation into the murders of police officers and finding the connection becomes urgent. Meanwhile, Braswell’s brother and Ava’s twin sister both disappear, and disturbing acts of sabotage target Ava’s personal life.
For Mason and Ava, the brutal crimes and escalating mysteries create a perfect storm for a terrorist conspiracy that becomes dangerously personal - one that has yet to claim its last victim.

Three different investigations for Mason, Ava and Zander, but they overlap in a tangled web that keeps delivering blow after blow, getting closer and closer to home. We almost lose Mason and Ava under the rising waves of grief and terror and you have to wonder just how much more they can shoulder before the pressure crushes them. A dark, twisted and utterly terrifying book that kept me gripped, I originally read this in one sitting on Kindle Unlimited, but listened this time on Audible with Kindle Unlimited and it definitely packs a punch.
He is systematically targeting them all...

It wouldn’t be a Kendra Elliot book without an autopsy or three and the fact-finding mission of the medical examiner. I loved that this one had previous characters popping up again. Zander, Ava’s partner is in it and we get a glimpse of him and Emily from THE LAST SISTER. There’s also Mercy Kilpatrick who comes to save the day with her syringe of crustacean tablets. Then in the epilogue where Ava and Mason finally get their wedding, we hear about guests from pretty much all the other books in Kendra’s BONES SECRETS, CALLAHAN AND MASON and MERCY KILPATRICK SERIES. The guest list is a who’s who of previous couples.
I’ve listened to Emily before in Kendra’s books and she does a fantastic job of putting us right there in the action but also in everyone’s heads. This is a multi-POV book so pay attention because we get inside so many brains!
Pick THE SILENCE for another fast-paced, action-packed thriller with a hint of relationship stuff. But to be fair you can’t go wrong with any of Kendra’s books if you like a good whodunnit!
Fast-pace, action-packed thriller, great narration
