Obsession. Magic. Revenge. Freedom and love have never been so deadly.

My ex-lover is a psychopath, hunting me down for revenge. I am falling in love with his enemy. And I am the last Arcane Witch left alive, destined to return magic to the modern world.

My whole life, I have been a prisoner. Starved. Beaten. Hated. By my own family! But most of all, I am feared. I am feared because I am the most powerful woman in the world. Most want me dead. Some want to control my magic for their own dark desires. To others, I am salvation. A key to winning a war that has raged for 500 years between those who can use magic, and hunters, who dedicate their entire existence to killing anyone with magic in their blood. I am released from my chains and thrown into a world I am supposed to save. A world that has made me suffer beyond words. Magic must return. But should it?

I absolutely love these books. This is the second time I have read this story and was so pleased when it came out on audio. The narrator was brilliant in every way and gave me chills on occasion absolutely fantastic 👏. The last witch was my very first dark story and my very first book boyfriend was created ❤️ . The story was gripping and so emotional. Every part gives you twists and turns in the very best way. In one part of the book I was soooooo angry 😠 and I remember that's exactly how I felt the first time I read it so to make me feel so emotional while reading for the second time, fantastic job 👏 😀. I will forever love these books and really look forward to when the next one is released on audio ❤️.

I fell in love with this book when it first came out, recommended to me by my daughter. I’d heard Amy’s narration of The Verity, so I had high expectations of this title from the start. It doesn’t disappoint. The narration is spot on throughout, really bringing a wonderful story to life. The story evokes so many emotions. It’s a book I will be going back to time and time again and I can’t wait for book 2 to come out.

Amazing performance of a great story

Good story. Glad lily wasn’t a victim all the way through and she showed she wasn’t going to bow down to anyone.

The twist

The complexities explored in this plot are fabulous but the ease with which the main character constantly slipped back into being the victim whilst repeatedly screeching “f you, I’m going to f-ing kill you” was frustrating. I kept waiting for the point where I felt her development. She was constantly speaking about how she wouldn’t let anyone hurt her anymore but then laying down and repeatedly letting them. Her relationship with Grayson I found particularly repetitive. She had no personality beside her trauma and I had to force myself to finish the book. The actual plot and its progression was very cleverly done in places and I had really hoped to love it by the end.

Good plot but very annoying lead character

Loved the story, having read the book had high hopes, the author (in my humble opinion) couldn’t quite get all the different voices. I’d still recommend the audio to anyone. I just went in with different voices, I realised half way through. Listen first , then if an option grab the book.

Fantastic story
