A brutal home invasion shocks Brattleboro's small Asian community, but no one is talking. Undeterred, Joe Gunther digs deeper and discovers a cross-border smuggling route carrying drugs, contraband, and illegal aliens into and out of Canada. Operating below the radar for years, competition between underworld rivals is bringing it into the light with deadly consequences.

International jurisdiction is a complicated matter, and in the pursuit of justice, Gunther will have to collaborate with the FBI, the Border Patrol, and the Mounties.

I’ve loved all his books so far but this one I found difficult to follow. There were no characters I could get involved with. And too difficult to remember which Asian character wax which. Luckily I didn’t have to buy as it was included. Struggled through five hours and then face up.

While fast paced, strong characters and descriptive mis en scéne throughout, I found the book overly laborious in parts. Overall 4*.

I found the story to widespread and the characters not as 3D as his previous works. Still won’t halt my progress through the library

Not his best

I'm up to number eight in this series and every one has been really good. No storyline has been repeated and the characters remain constant and the reader is great. I keep trying to read a book away from this series but I keep coming back to these.

loved it ,!

Weakest of the series so far. Dull story but narration excellent as usual. Struggled to finish the listen.
