There's a hit man in Glasgow: unpaid and angry, he's decided to settle his own debts....

Elsewhere in the city, Marianne Brogan can't sleep. She's plagued by a nightmare: someone in the shadows, whispering threats, stalking her every move. To make matters worse, Marianne can't get hold of her brother, Billy. Despite knowing some shady characters from Glasgow's underworld, Billy's always been there for her - until now.

DCI Lorimer and his team are faced with a string of seemingly unconnected but professional killings. Without witnesses or much conclusive evidence to build a case, the officers are drawing a blank. Criminal psychologist Solly Brightman is off the case due to budget cuts. But Solly is more closely connected to the murders than he could possibly know....

And as the hit man plans a bloody ransom to get his fee, the race is on to find out just who hired him - and who's next on the hit list.

"Gray's best book yet.... A thoroughly impressive outing from a writer ready to join the top rank of crime authors." (Daily Express)

Another excellent tale from Alex Gray. I like the way the stories interweave amongst the main characters as well as the villains .
My only complaint is the poor editing, this is the third book to either jump or repeat the story on several occasions. On this particular book there is a lot of hissing. The publishing house would do well to address these issues as they spoil the enjoyment of a cracking story.
.

Entertaining , but with editing issues.

Editing error again in Chapter 32 spoiled what was otherwise an excellent book. Can't wait to start the next in the series.

A good story although the plots a little weaker than previous in the series but still enjoyable.

As usual a good narration by Joe Dunlop.

Good book and decent plot. the actual audio file seemed to have some quality issues and instances or repeated sections.
