Sella is tired of being a failure.

She has a lovely, cozy shop—an heirloom from her mother—, a snarky feline familiar, and one, single friend to call her own. It should be enough. But Sella’s magical abilities left a stain on her hometown, and even years away didn’t repair her reputation. The life of a kitchen witch is rough when everyone thinks Sella’s magical blends of coffee and tea will leave them with boils instead of the intended “motivation” or “self-compassion.”

But when a murder shakes the town and Sella’s best friend becomes suspect one, failure is a luxury they can’t afford. Luckily, the murdered woman—a confident ghost with a fiery determination for justice—is ready to help… and she’s more than Sella ever bargained for. With her friends, her familiar, and a bit of magic, Sella is ready to prove herself once and for all.

Although, perhaps she should brew a strong cup of “courage” first.

Just in case.

What a ride! A fantastic, new to me Author, with a captivating mystery full of the type of magic I love and one of my absolute favourite narrator, together for what has been an amazing experience. It is one of those titles that you don't want to finish too fast, but can't wait to see what happens next. So glad that there is more to enjoy.
Samantha Norbury is incredible in giving life to such a cast of so many different characters, making me forget that is a woman show. Highly recommended!!

Witches, ghosts and familiars, a lovely story beautifully told by the narrator. I really enjoy it. Finished it in less that 24 hours. I’d highly recommend it if you’re wanting something nice to read.

Really enjoyed how the different characters stories evolved throughout the book, and they were complex and layered like real people. I don’t want to say too much and give anything away. I think the narrator did a great job of mirroring this character development within her own delivery and I felt like you could hear the changes in the characters through her voice. A smooth and easy listen perfect to pop in to keep you entertained whilst doing jobs but with enough twists and turns to keep you engaged. Great little rainy day listen.

Loved the cosy setting for this murder mystery. The characters were sweet and easy to root for - I especially enjoyed Beejee the cat and his unmatched sass.

The narration performance was fantastic, with each character having a distinct voice of their own, really bringing the world of the story to life with a wealth of emotion.

Can't wait to listen to book 2!
