The number-one New York Times best selling In Death series explodes with intrigue, passion, and suspense. Now, Nora Roberts, writing as J. D. Robb, propels you into the darkest night of Lieutenant Eve Dallas' life - when a killer comes to call.

Eve's name has made a Christmas list, but it's not for being naughty or nice. It's for putting a serial killer behind bars. Now the escaped madman has her in his sights. With her husband, Roarke, at her side, Eve must stop the man from exacting his bloody vengeance - or die trying.

Even though it was only a short book it was a brilliant one just what you would expect from Eve Dallas.

These characters play well in short story format. A tight plot, executed well.

However, because it’s stripped to the bare bones, it wasn’t as enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a brilliant piece of work, well placed in the catalogue of work, when everyone is fragile and tense because of what preceded this.

But you miss the play on words, the ‘deep’ conversations about the etymology of words and phrases, the banter of the police department and various personal interactions, so yes, this is a great tale, but it’s surprising how you miss the heart and soul of it.

Brilliant narration, as always, by Susan Ericksen.

Short, but packed

Eve should have known her first Christmas with Roarke was going to be interupted by a case, but not just any case, a perpetrator from the past comes back to haunt them all. It's a very long week from midnight Christmas Eve to midnight New Years Eve, a week with little sleep, extra nightmares and multiple deaths...all connected to Eve and the original case.
I'm not sure this classes as a festive novella, but it is a novella set during the festive season!
I listened to this on Audible.

A Christmas gift just for Eve?
