I want nothing more than to escape my destiny.

Being alpha-born means walking a path that's already been laid out for me, with a mate I don't get to choose.

On a Lycan's 21st birthday, we are fated to find our true mate. Only, I don't want one. I'm not ready yet.

I want to travel and see the world, but I can't do that, either.

When our world comes under attack from a foe we thought long vanquished, everything I thought I knew gets flipped upside down.

With nowhere to turn after my mate rejects me, feeling suffocated by my own skin, I leave my pack to try and find myself...but get found instead.

While this book is part of The Seven Realms saga and does contain some tiny spoilers to the Shadow Walkers Saga, it can be listened to without having to have heard any of the other books in the Seven Realms world.

Luna Rising by Sloane Murphy is a rejected mate shifter romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Meg Price. This is the first book in The Shadow Legacies series.

This is the first book of Sloane's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The book ends on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Alpha Bound to be released on audio so I can get more of Luna's story.

Meg did an amazing job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances, shifter romances, rejected mates, or supernatural suspense.

This book had everything I wanted in it. Love, loss, rejection and self discovery. I love that Luna didn’t let herself get kicked down and have a huge pity party while dealing with all the crazy. She just pulled herself together and tries to figure out all her sh!t.

“Yes to everything about this story!!! Rejected mates, slow burn romance, angst and over the top chemistry? OMG!!! It was fantastic!!! One of the things I liked the most was Luna’s attitude. Someone that wants to explore the world like Aladdin’s song without the duet love lol… like explore wonder by wonder before being tied down. Did I mention rejected mates? Yes!!!! It was epic!! A huge shoutout to Meg for the incredible narration.”

I enjoyed Luna Rising. The plot line was somewhat predictable but still kept me hooked. I loved the action scenes and the angst - though there were some times where it was just overwhelming angst and I wanted some more story.

The way the characters, especially Luna and her family, felt quite immature. They couldn't express a thought without it being riddled with swears. I swear a fair amount myself and it still felt like a lot.

The cliffhanger ending has me eagerly wanting the next book. Despite it's flaws, I enjoyed the journey and will continue. I'd give the story a 3.5 and the narration a 4.5-5.

Meg Price's narration was fantastic. She was the perfect voice and i'll definitely be listening to more from her.
