England, 1461: The young King Edward of York has taken the country by force from King Henry VI of Lancaster. Sir Jasper Tudor, Earl of Pembroke, flees the massacre of his Welsh army at the Battle of Mortimer's Cross and plans a rebellion to return his half-brother King Henry to the throne.

With nothing but his wits and charm, Jasper sees his chance to make young Henry Tudor king with a daring and reckless invasion of England.

Set in the often brutal world of 15th century England, Wales, Scotland, France, Burgundy and Brittany, during the Wars of the Roses, this fast-paced story is one of courage and adventure, love and belief in the destiny of the Tudors.

A very well researched and written novel by Tony Riches. I'm very interested in this part of Tudor history, Henry VII, his mother Margaret Beaufort and how the Tudor name came from a courtier of Catherine of Valois, Owen Tudor, who fell in love and married Catherine. I've really enjoyed the two books in this trilogy so far, and look forward to the next book Henry. Very well narrated too by James Young. Very enjoyable 👑📚

An Excellent Novel on Jasper and Henry Tudor 👑📚

After reading book one of the Tudor trilogy I was really hoping this narrator was a lot better than the last one. With relief he was a lot better, but he still wasn't as good as other narrators I've listened to. I love the storyline, and the story kept me interested from start to finish. I disliked the way the narrator sometimes made Jasper sound quite feminine and weak where in reality he must have been a true warrior. Maybe this is just the way the narrator speaks. This is why I gave the performance a 3/5. I would definitely recommend both books of this trilogy if you are interested in this period drama. Overall I enjoyed reading the two books so I give this a 4/5 x

I really enjoyed this follow on from ‘Owen’ and can’t wait to start on ‘Henry’. The performance is good but the story is excellent. A good piece of historical fiction with very good accuracy of real events included.

This book explores the times of the War of the Roses from the Tudor perspective. Well written and good to meet the Lancastrian side of the family. The book effortlessly links back to Owen Tudor and Katherine de Valois story and the adversities all suffered in the strife. The final confrontation at Bosworth Field casually mentions Stafford who, once he saw the way things were going, committed his soldiers not to Richard but to Henry thus bringing an end to the long lasting war. This book is a good way to understand the strategy and planning of the Tudors.

The story could be interesting but the narrator's failure to speak with a convincing Irish or French accent is distracting and I couldn't listen to more than a few chapters.
