Fifteen-year-old Teri Hewitt has been left holding the babies since her dad disappeared without trace. She wants LA private eye Elvis Cole to find him and although he knows he should refuse and hand it over to social services, he finds himself taking on the case.

The search reveals a chronically unemployed drug addict caught up in counterfeiting scams and mixed up with the Russian mafia and Vietnamese gunmen. As the action heads towards a gunfight in Disneyland and Cole dodges his almost-girlfriend's ex-husband, he realises Teri is one whole lot of trouble he should have left to the professionals.

With every book Robert Crais write for Cole and Pike it gets better and better as he gets to know his characters even more. This title gripped me from the start with an excellent intro that was very tense. My only critique would be I saw the twist coming a mile away, but it did not take away from my enjoyment. definitely recommend.

Entertaining, gripping and intense

As per usual from Crais, smart, funny bits and just a good story well told . I really hope that this is not the last adventure from Elvis and Pike ! Just great !

The narrator's voice didn't quite match my imagined voice for elvis but that aside he did a great job and it was another good story...

Absolutely compelling reading as always. LOVE the asides and quips also for a little humour
