Winner 2018 SOVAS Award for Audiobook Narration - Teens, Best Voiceover

They are the fatemarked. Misunderstood. Worshipped. Hated. Murdered at birth. Their time to step into the light has come.

An ancient prophecy foretold their coming, the chosen few who will bring peace to a land embroiled in a century of mistrust and war. When kings start dying, that hope and belief swiftly turns to fear. Roan Loren is one of the fatemarked, but has hidden his mark of power his entire life, fearing the damage it might cause to those around him.

A great evil is coming. He can't hide anymore.

In the spirit of fantasy epics like Throne of Glass and The Lord of the Rings, enter a world of magic and dragons, kings and queens, and victory and defeat, during a time when honor and valor still meant something.

I don’t usually write reviews but this is an amazing listen!

The characters, the story, the writing, the narration. It’s just all so good! And I really love the postludes that give so much depth and back story. You really get to know the characters and they almost become like family.

If you like a good fantasy and being drawn into a story then this is perfect.

10/10

I love a series that doesn’t run out! If you are looking for a quick read and quick ending it’s not for you.

The characters are well thought out and unpredictable, it is not like any other story I have read/listened to. I was excited to read the next book to see what happened. Now read the whole series so wanted to come back to the first book for the review. Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. Just be careful who you get attached to lol. Just started the kingfall series by the same author. Excellent narration too.

Glad I didn’t read some of these reviews! lol! I’d have missed out on a fantastic author, narrator and series

This is page by page adventure and surprises - Thank you David for writing such an amazing story which I thoroughly enjoyed.
The concept is strong
The character development is strong - e.g. you find yourself liking characters that you shouldn't
The narration is really good - Derek does a good job at a female voice and making it credible
You look and think 19 hours wow that's long, but it's so good it feels like 5 minutes! He also gives you back stories at the end which give you further insight into the characters (he could have done these as flashbacks just as well)
never mind the book LOVED THIS SERIES

A real epic adventure - thank you
