'A truly gripping read' Mick Herron

The cobbled lanes and back streets of St Andrews have become home to a vicious serial killer.

Striking during heavy rain and choosing only victims who abuse women, 'The Stabber' has police baffled. After the sixth man is found murdered, having been stabbed to death through his left eye, DCI Andy Gilchrist is at his wit's end. Struggling against his self-serving and autocratic boss, Gilchrist is left furious when he is taken off the case at a crucial point. Driven by his fear of failure, and desperate to redeem his career and his reputation, Gilchrist vows to catch The Stabber alone.

Digging deeper into the world of a psychopath, Gilchrist fears he is up against a serial killer on the verge of mental collapse. Can Gilchrist unravel the warped mind of the murderer and stop him before the next victim is slain? With reckless resolve, Gilchrist risks it all in a heart-stopping race to catch The Stabber, knowing that any mistake could be his last.

Gripping story, well narrated, it was as if was there, watching from a distance.
Was Disappointed when it ended.
Cannot wait to read the next book.

Gripping story, well narrated

This was my first T. F. Muir audible book and I wasn't disappointed. An enjoyable crime thriller but I have to say that I must have missed why (apart from the obvious) the Stabber chose to murder & what 'Timmy's' story was in relation to the Stabber as I feel this wasn't explained very well. One of my main reason for purchasing this was because it was narrated by David Monteath, who narrates Denzil Meyrick's DCI Daley books so well. I will definitely look out for more T F Muir books.

Enjoyable crime thriller but

I found the detailed descriptions abit disturbing & had to listen to over a few days.

Not something to listen too in the bath.

Listened to this book whilst on my treadmill
Often spent longer than intended just to get to the end of another chapter. Originally read the book many years ago. This did not diminish the audible book in the slightest. I will follow up listening to the next book in the series even though previously read years ago. Certainly one of my favourite crime authors.

Excellent page turner
